haha I love how the third result for MW's googlie search for non douche bar dc is from TV's Wankette's enterprise.

I would hang but have 1) house guest and 2) ungodly early flight tomorrow a.m., so must actually pack more than 20 minutes before leaving the house.

btw, this is the type shit i have to deal with out here

"This 4 piece outfit includes full three part harmonies floating over tasty grooves played by a slammin rhythm section that includes percussion, drums, electric bass, keys and guitar. 'Soaring vocals over world-class musicianship, a smart dance party'."

kissing, drinking, and insect songs (gbx), Saturday, 24 March 2007 00:49 (seventeen years ago) link

man that is one SLAMMIN RHYTHM SECTION!

kissing, drinking, and insect songs (gbx), Saturday, 24 March 2007 00:50 (seventeen years ago) link

ooh dude you really out to try these TASTY GROOVES, they're delicious!

kissing, drinking, and insect songs (gbx), Saturday, 24 March 2007 00:50 (seventeen years ago) link

at least these guys sound like they might be fun for...something?

Rob Lethert, of the Boozehounds, has been singing and playing music since he was six. Back then, he listened to Neil Diamond – today he is the lead singer and guitar player for Bozeman’s “trailer-trash, country, rock n’ roll band,” the Boozehounds.

The Boozehounds are Rob Lethert (Vocals, Guitar), Kenny Stancil (Drums), Texas Ted Culp (Slide Guitar), and Mike Schultz (Bass). The band formed in April of 2004 and have been evolving ever since.

In just two months they released their first CD which featured the bands favorite cover songs.

“I like playing stuff nobody knows because they think it’s original and if you screw up, nobody know,” said Lethert.

While the last album was covers, the Boozehounds upcoming album, scheduled to be released this summer, will feature all original tracks, with the exception of one Tex Tucker cover. Look for some of these original songs at the Boozehounds next live show.

“Most of these songs are about shitty cars, mean women, and getting to drunk... the important things in life,” said Lethert

The band named itself “The Boozehounds,” because, according to Lethert, “We’re all pretty much a bunch of alcoholics.” They like to have a good time when they play and have been known to fall off the stage in the process. (For those wishing to buy them a drink, they enjoy beer, Jaeger, and tequila.)

What’s next for the Boozehounds? “Since we don’t have any movie picture deals, we are just going to continue playing live music in Bozeman,” said Lethert. “And in the summer we will be starting a tour of Colorado and Texas with our new CD.” •

yeah that dude is awesome! he's an ethiopian singer, that tune's from the very early 70's i think? i've only been able to get my hands on two or three tracks by him, but they're all amazing. "hasabe" (the one i played) is the hardest rocking. i can send em off your way, if you'd like.

have you heard any other ethio stuff? alemayehu eshete is another big favorite of mine and luckily he's got a much larger and more easily findable discography.

ZR (teenagequiet), Saturday, 24 March 2007 01:28 (seventeen years ago) link

can send em off your way, if you'd like.

yes plz!

...i haven't heard much ethiopian stuff, unfortunately, but would be very happy to hear what's out there

Speaking of ethiopian music, I was SOOO pissed when I was at Dukem for dinner earlier this week and there was a dude playing jazz keyboard. wtf? Why did they not bring the awesome like usual?

(this was somewhat mitigated by the TV in the back of the restaurant playing Stealth)
