At the most basic level you are presuming to speak for them (which is - wait for it - patronizing!), and then you are also presuming that they hold a specific set of aesthetic standards (macho = bad/embarassing, a scale of attraction that is based on fear/weakness, etc.)

That attraction is based on how likely someone is to hurt you, either physically or otherwise - are you afraid of them, are they stronger/more powerful than you, do they make you feel safe. Do you see how maybe possibly classic MAN STRONG/WOMAN WEAK gender stereotypes are bound up in this.
