I completely disagree.

I enjoyed the three man game they played on offense with their excellent weakside spacing. I blame flopping on the Vlade Kings teams (and Derek Floppin' Fisher) more than on Manu.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:41 (twelve years ago) link

The Pistons were hideous to watch though, beyond Rasheed getting Techs.

BAN THIS BUDWEISER COMMERCIAL

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:43 (twelve years ago) link

f---g a, can't the federal gov't do something about that commercial?

i realize there are protections ensuring "free" "speech," but there are limits.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:43 (twelve years ago) link

I'm watching online so I don't get the Bud commercial. Thank you ESPN 3!

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:44 (twelve years ago) link

what is this commercial?

cad, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:45 (twelve years ago) link

it's a terrible commercial with lmfao

How many days after a period? Started by Tuomas in December 2011 (v-shasty), Monday, 26 December 2011 02:46 (twelve years ago) link

I had to ask my wife who they were.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:47 (twelve years ago) link

holy hell, if it happens: dirk -- dhoward -- deron v. bron -- wade -- bosh in '12 -- '13. i suppose dallas would be favored, but what a matchup.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:47 (twelve years ago) link

I'm hoping!

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:47 (twelve years ago) link

And thinking of actively lobbying Howard and Williams

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:48 (twelve years ago) link

that would be pretty amazing, a great rivalry

and yeah i assume dallas would win

How many days after a period? Started by Tuomas in December 2011 (v-shasty), Monday, 26 December 2011 02:48 (twelve years ago) link

it's already an interesting rivalry, with the way they traded finals wins.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:48 (twelve years ago) link

i assume, but heat's firepower is muy impresionante

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:49 (twelve years ago) link

i think the c's are angling to have cap room this offseason, too. not sure how they'd do it, but dwight howard and rajon rondo would be a hell of a building block for the celtic nation.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:51 (twelve years ago) link

heat have three players that don't fit at all, Dallas would have three players who are made for each other.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:51 (twelve years ago) link

they fit pretty well today.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:51 (twelve years ago) link

not really, bosh didn't do anything.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:52 (twelve years ago) link

i think they'll fit fine, this year and next. there's some overlap, but there are plenty of workarounds.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:52 (twelve years ago) link

and btw, bosh is the player who fits perfectly with either bron or wade. it's the wings who arguably have duplication in their games, i.e., redundancy.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:52 (twelve years ago) link

bosh stepped back as a scorer because the two wings take up so many touches. but bosh will be damn good this year, i'm convinced. getting bigger will help him plenty.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:53 (twelve years ago) link

they have two guys who can't shoot from the perimeter and need the ball in their hands all the time, and a soft PF who doesn't do dirty work and mostly is effective in iso situations. Great mix!

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:53 (twelve years ago) link

If Lebron is going to be facing up in the post and taking 12'-18' jumpers they don't need Bosh.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:54 (twelve years ago) link

they might win because of the overwhelming talent of wade and lebron, but this big three was just three bro's going to a team, not three players who made sense alongside each other.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:54 (twelve years ago) link

nah. the transition game they showed today was awesome. two prolific wings -- even ones that like the ball in their hands -- can work fine, if they can pass like bron and wade.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:55 (twelve years ago) link

but eventually you have to score in the half court, and it turns into a nightmare

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:56 (twelve years ago) link

we saw it vs. dallas, if they couldn't spark the transition game with defense, their halfcourt offense was remedial.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:57 (twelve years ago) link

v. dallas today or in the finals?

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:58 (twelve years ago) link

Today they could do no wrong.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 02:59 (twelve years ago) link

right. like all teams in a shortened preseason, they'll need work, and bron has to be reminded to not just pound the ball at the top of the key. having said that, i think they'll be fine in the half-court. if they can get good production out of their center position (a big "if," i know), they'll be amazing.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:59 (twelve years ago) link

and they'll likely be amazing, anyway.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 02:59 (twelve years ago) link

I don't see how you could argue the three of them are a good fit, considering what has happened to Bosh.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:01 (twelve years ago) link

unless you think Bosh just has been exposed and wouldn't be a great fit anywhere.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:01 (twelve years ago) link

Bosh would have been a great fit in Chicago instead of Boozer.

EZ Snappin, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:02 (twelve years ago) link

no; i think bosh is a top-5 PF. bosh was v good/consistent in the playoffs. he just doesn't score as much. and he was guilty of some psychological regression, sitting back and watching bron/wade play, but that's something that isn't related to his potential fit with the team.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 03:02 (twelve years ago) link

well, and his rebounds did decrease some. but that's not really a "fit" issue. it's more because bron and wade rebound very well for their positions.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 03:03 (twelve years ago) link

it's absolutely related to it! He likes to have plays run for him.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:04 (twelve years ago) link

if Bosh's role in the offense is that minor, they should have a guy who rebounds and/or plays great D.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:04 (twelve years ago) link

run through him, you mean? okay, well, he's also a good spot-up midrange shooter. and he has post moves; he just hid them last year.

bosh's goal is to average 10 rebounds this year. that's possible, given his statistics from toranto. if he does that, he'll be great. and sitting at the elbow, shooting midrange shots is okay for him, and is a good "fit." (a'mare, who is amazing but crowds the paint, might have presented his own "fitness" issues alongside bron and wade). and if bosh becomes more assertive in the paint, he'll be an even better fit.

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 03:05 (twelve years ago) link

No, it's a good fit for kurt thomas, not an elite offensive player like Bosh once was.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:07 (twelve years ago) link

the big 3 fit and they don't fit -- it's certainly not a classic pairing like the celtics big 3 or like deron/dwight/dirk would be -- but the heat's big 3 can also do a lot of things on both the offensive and defensive (this is a huge thing) ends that no team or trio of players in the nba can do -- i still think that talent will win out and that it really won't matter if they fit classically, and if things go anywhere near as well as they went on day 1 of year 2, they may obliterate the entire notion of fit anyway

How many days after a period? Started by Tuomas in December 2011 (v-shasty), Monday, 26 December 2011 03:19 (twelve years ago) link

and i think you could make the argument that lebron is truly one of the most versatile, or potentially versatile, players in the history of the nba, and that maybe the best team for him is one that is amorphous and experimental, provided that he's willing to push himself to expand his offensive repertoire -- he seemed like he was on his way today

How many days after a period? Started by Tuomas in December 2011 (v-shasty), Monday, 26 December 2011 03:22 (twelve years ago) link

if you did 100 random groupings of 3 top 25 players who didn't play the same position, I venture to say that a majority of the time they'd fit better than Miami's big 3 does.

Matt Armstrong, Monday, 26 December 2011 03:24 (twelve years ago) link

nash -- cp3 -- deron

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 03:25 (twelve years ago) link

that's possible, but it would be a pretty worthless experiment

JUST KIDDING

Daniel, Esq., Monday, 26 December 2011 03:27 (twelve years ago) link

i mean it's not like the heat got to choose any 3 of the nba's top 25 players and choose three guys that don't fit perfectly

i mean you could say the same thing for literally every single team in the nba
