i just sonned my boss in an email grammatical beef

maybe you should start a solo act called jerkface (Party with me Punker), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 18:50 (seventeen years ago) link

micromanaging? is that what they call it? :)

yeah totally. i am just not zen enough to put up with this shit and not be tempted to deliberately miss the deadline. in fact i haven't even started yet but i'm not obliged to start any earlier than necessary to make the deadline, so they should really try & MYOB. i'm going to tell the next person that in fact - "i haven't started yet. could you mind your own business?"

maybe i should follow prev web developer's lead and set up a wiki or basecamp or something so we can all track progress instead of thinking hey it's cool, let's just drop by someone's cube and interrupt them whenever to check up on progress which is not actually our business.

nobody trusts anybody to actually do their job around here. but then, why would they, given that the actual managers have tendency to over promise despite lack of resources & then not communicate promises to production staff

dar1a g (dar1a g), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 18:51 (seventeen years ago) link

yeah i hate when my boss jumps the gun and freaks out over shit that is not due until next week.

maybe you should start a solo act called jerkface (Party with me Punker), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 18:52 (seventeen years ago) link

that shit happened to me all the time at my old job. especially since no one knew how to write stuff, so a paragraph of copy that was due in four days was like serious business. and magic, since they were baffled, BAFFLED, by my ability to copyedit entire pages in under an hour.

blastcap master rapper (gbx), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 18:56 (seventeen years ago) link

though truth be told i prefer a quick turnaround time to shit dragging on forever.

maybe you should start a solo act called jerkface (Party with me Punker), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 18:58 (seventeen years ago) link

my boss in a meeting today offered to take us all out to dinner if we meet our 1st qtr goals, which is as much of an incentive as anything else going on for me to just sit here and blatantly do nothing!!

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

So let's get this straight.. dinner.. your reward for this is to get to spend MORE time doing work stuff, basically?

dar1a g (dar1a g), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:03 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm with you on the quick turnaround -- i never understood why they didn't make my deadlines shorter

blastcap master rapper (gbx), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:05 (seventeen years ago) link

more time hanging out with a bunch of people who cannot get their heads out of their asses: yes, that is exactly what i want to do instead of just go out with my friends and drink or maybe even just go home and shoot myself in the face, thanks.

gin and sonic (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:07 (seventeen years ago) link

maybe ask if you meet your 1st Q goals if they can just bankroll an DCILX happy hour.

break machine (Brian Miller), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:09 (seventeen years ago) link

we don't want to bankrupt the company, though

John Justen wheedly wheedly whee chugga chugga whee dunt dunt dunt (John Justen), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Maybe I should move "John Justen and Fluffy Bear will drink it" to a paysite.

John Justen teh dipsomaniac elite. (John Justen), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:33 (seventeen years ago) link

dar1a g (dar1a g), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:34 (seventeen years ago) link

Alex has it down to getting paid to say mean things about people on the internet, but I think that's the closest any of us is to making our job reflect our normal daily activities.

break machine (Brian Miller), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:34 (seventeen years ago) link

John Justen and Fluffy Bear might have to do a lot more than drink it on a pay site.

break machine (Brian Miller), Wednesday, 21 March 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link
