Letters from Iwo Jima

every war movie cliche ever used...

I didn't find it to be as cliche loaded as I was expecting. I thought the perspective it took was interesting but overall was a so-so movie.

I enjoyed it as a movie and thought the feeling of impending doom made the first half riveting. It dealt with a lot of cultural issues with surprising nuance (which may have little to do with Eastwood's direction). But more than anything else, this is a very significant film in terms of WWII remembrance, especially from the Japanese perspective.
