Anyone else noticed that every time ilx turns to the sandbox and returns it gets more retarded?

It doesn't bother me so much, but it's not as interesting. The good side is that because there are fewer threads to randomly run across and have to read, I am getting more studying and housekeeping done. (Or possibly just more napping and socializing, but whatever.)

I remember nothing about reading Wuthering Heights. I'm slowly working through my physiology book. This is seriously the weirdest science class I've ever had (which is saying something, believe me).

Okay, I have not done laundry for two days because I was out of the house too much. Next 24 hours are all about clean underwear.

That reminds me, one sermon I liked back in the day was based around the idea "God only punishes his own children."

Years later I was somehow not a follower but a believer and kept thinking "I've gotta get this damn holy spirit out of my body! it's fucking with me!"

Organised religions, particularly ones that deny the validity of alternatives, are insane/for the insane.

David Tibet(wikipedia Current 93, folks) has done the logical extreme with any polar concept(go far enough left and you'll find yourself sitting next to the far right, vice versa) and gone from Crowley-esque pseudo-satanism to Catholicism.
The other side of that coin is David Eugene Edwards, singer of The Woven Hand and Sixteen Horsepower. His music is so devout that it's terrifying.

Physiology sounds interesting. However, if it's anything like anatomy...it isn't.

Anatomy = Structure; Physiology = Function. It's more complicated, but more interesting. Plus lab is (so far) a lot easier. (Ha, except we had to run up flights of stairs tonight; some of us were wearing heels or boots). Oh yeah, and the animal phys class I took at Olaf was awful; particularly the lab where we were asked to pith frogs. There are a few things I just can't do.

I have the choice between Biomedical Ethics and Christian Ethics next term. Guess which one I'm taking...

The thing that irritates me about it is that my interpretation of what Christianity should be is so far removed from what it is. Also, I was raised Catholic and what has happened in that church over the past two decades just makes me angry. Social justice is now <<<< right wing ideology. (Unless you count pro-life extremism as social justice).

Sidenote: one of the women in my class said something last semester that was affectionately insulting, but then got all worried that I would be offended. I was completely taken aback by this. I think I said, "obviously, you did not grow up in Hastings!"

John, I'm pretty much the same way w/r/t plea thread, but as a relative noob with a small click and some scattered acquaintances on the board, I would feel like I was stepping in between the drunk uncle and the schizophrenic cousin at a large dysfunctional family reunion. Everybody's red-eyed and the vibes are all weird. The rational people are getting spooked and making light, conciliatory jokes and reasonable counterpoints and the oldsters are grousing about the good-ole-days.
