gotta be careful with those self fulfilling prophecies

"I'll never have a boyfriend," may not be the best statement, because it is a prophecy. But nobody likes to talk about the reality that some people who want a mate will not get one. Instead they say well-intentioned but meaningless things like "the right one will come along when you least expect it" and "you will be loved." That's what everyone wants to believe, but those platitudes are dismissive a person's awareness of the realistic possibility that he may well never have a mate.

okcupid is cool cuz answering questions is more important/telling than what you put in your profile, and it does do a decent enough job of narrowing down ppl that you might be interested in

It's a good week! Friends are returning to town one by one, went to a spectacular tapas place on Saturday night followed by drinks at a new tavern; spent last night wrapping presents and writing.

And it's my second to last work day.

It opened in Wynwood a couple months ago? It's called Wynwood Kitchen & Bar, a location recently reclaimed from vagrants and crack vials by local artists. Wood, the tavern across from it, has a fantastic patio area.

i'm excited about going back home to see family and friends but i definitely don't like xmas as much as i used to

my bf despises xmas, i can only manage a dazed "whatever."

valley inversions set in last week. it will basically look and feel like mordor here until february. the smog is so bad i have a perpetual headache. of course, ten minutes up the canyon and it's clear, sunny and ten degrees warmer. kicking myself for not saving up for a season pass at one of the ski resorts this year.
