Our power just went out in our office for the third time in two weeks.

I haven't been sleeping well either. Our bedroom gets really hot when the temps are over like 38 and I think that's why.

Oh, weird. The URL contained the sandbox url + the correct one. Anyway, it's going to be a Walgreens w/ sushi, hair salon, and wine bar. There is a Duane Reade in NYC that is similar - it is simply *opulent* - marble floors and columns, luxe boutiques, etc. Like Nieman Marcus or something.

I am not saying they aren't, but when I feel that way, it usually means I need to take a break from ILX at large. Also you're tired so you may not be as impervious to the slings and arrows of loltrolls on ILX. Also, do you want me and Jesse to go take care of anybody for you?

no it's definitely because i'm tired and grouchy, it's the usual annoying people but getting under my skin more than usual

You're looking south down Franklin. The train is leaving Ogilvie Transportation Center. The black shiny building is Citicorp, and the you can see an El station on Lake St.

My guess is Ogilvie Transportation Center, and the street is Clinton (looking south).

Oh. Yes, I guess it is Clinton, not Franklin.

I was going to guess Ogilvie because it's downtown, there are a lot of Metra trains, and it's not Union Station.

just got an email about the chicago job. sounds like they really want me - in Louisville. :-/

i'm going to call at 9am and try to persuade them that i'm much more suited for the chicago job (which is true - it involves enviro/energy efficiency work; louisville's is about developing a regional export strategy), but my chances just went down to about 0.42%

Does it do any good to try and contact the CTA about bus complaints? Second time this week I've waited more than 40 minutes for a bus that's supposed to come every 20-22 minutes. Today I finally gave up and took a cab to Howard because I was freezing. Bustracker, which is normally good, was virtually useless today. When I got to the stop it said 43 minutes to next bus, which was obviously not right. Then it jumped down to a more reasonable 20, but every time it got down close to about 10 minutes it jumped back up to 24 or 28.

well, i'm not accepting that interview - the job in that position doesn't have anything to do with environment, so it doesn't really get me anywhere.

all of these 5 positions (there's one in the mayor's office in 5 cities) involve taking a big pay cut, so i'm only willing to accept the one that lets me work on energy efficiency (the chicago one). there's still a chance i could get offered an interview for the chicago job. it's just that they're having trouble finding people that have applied that are willing to take the louisville position, so they checked with me to see if i was willing to go for it.

Oh, I don't think that means you're out of the running for Chicago then. I think it just means they are asking everyone they want to hire to please oh please move to fucking Kentucky please. Not "Move to KY or gtfo."

yeah, that's what i'm hoping. but still, i'm assuming that the competition for the chicago position is most intense. they're trying to identify a "final round" of interviewees that would include 3 people vying for each of the 5 positions. the other cities are atlanta, louisville, memphis and new orleans. i made it to the initial first round of 25 people, but now i'm trying to squeeze into that final 3 for Chicago.
