I'm pretty certain it'll be open for business tomorrow or Sat latest. I will probably just post here when it is, so I can bring the users back in slowly, then let the hordes return when it's all stable.

Oh - will Sandbox posts be available (searchable) through regular ILX? The main reason I miss regular ILX is b/c this place feels ephemeral. And b/c identities are unclear to me.

^^^ sandbox is the BEST, i'm gonna be really annoying on ilx talking about how it was way better & how stet should merge it & how we should or shouldn't have sbs but how it was definitely better the way it was or wasn't before

I prefer to remember the sandbox as the Shangri-La of ILE.

I hope we don't cause a Bacharach-David breakup.

YE gods the weird stuff always happens when I'm stuck on a phone. That downtime tonight was unexpected. I think an ILX background job went off on one, which shouldn't happen. Checking now.

Um, I know I volunteered to dig into ILX code in the past and didn't really do anything due to no specific direction and a lack of free time, but... I should be home a fair bit over the holidays and my day job is Java development so I might be able to help look at some of the code.

Refresh my memory, but doesn't the code currently only load threads to memory from the DB if they're actually accessed? Getting the memory load back down might be as easy as expiring out the cache more aggressively.
