and fwiw gordons ts% is actually pretty good cause of how much he gets to the line
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:31 (twelve years ago) link
coincidentally... kevin martin is also good at drawing fouls...
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:32 (twelve years ago) link
kevin martin is a GREAT scorer, i have conceded this, its just all the other things

Danilo makes more FTs per game than Gordon.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:35 (twelve years ago) link
and has a better TS%...
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:36 (twelve years ago) link
3.6 to 4.1 in favor of gordon, theyve both been in the league 3 years - obvs theres minutes, pace, usage and all that to adjust for, but technically, no
now srsly im going to bed
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:40 (twelve years ago) link
and i never said galinari didnt have a better ts%, just that he was one dimensional, idk maybe hell be good, certainly not a guy who jumped out at you watched him as someone who was a v well rounded or with it player, also always been totally a complimentary player, never had any defense focus on him, cant defend at all etc
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:42 (twelve years ago) link
you said he just shot threes, yet he takes a ton of FTs

His defense is fine. The Gallinari being a bad defender thing is so 2009.

Gallo shot more last year. Really unfair to count Gallo's first year when he was struggling with a back injury and coming off the bench.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:45 (twelve years ago) link
a guy who shoots a lot of threes and also draws a lot of fouls has at least 2 dimensions has at least 2 dimensions.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:48 (twelve years ago) link
per 36 Gallo has averaged more FTs for his career.
― Matt Armstrong, Thursday, 15 December 2011 07:50 (twelve years ago) link
matt armstrong has been totally otm itt (except the part when you guys started arguing about the danilo gallinari, which i skipped)
david stern still comes off as a weak, borderline incompetent psycho
i have no idea what argument cad was trying to make upthread
the clippers are still gonna lose in the first round of the playoffs, i think we all know this
― v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 08:16 (twelve years ago) link
i really do think that stern should step down -- the league has been in complete and utter chaos for the better part of a year now and i think a new commissioner would probably help, as long as the new commissioner isn't adam silver
― v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 08:19 (twelve years ago) link
and just to reiterate, kevin's argument is entirely retarded -- saying that stern looks pretty good because his completely absurd and irrational veto of the three way deal "on basketball grounds" ended up with the hornets "getting a better deal" is basically like swallowing george bush's line that we went to war in iraq because of WMDs and then saying that it all worked out in the end cuz we paved some roads and built some schools
― v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 08:21 (twelve years ago) link
which is not even to mention the irony of the fact that stern traded the league into the exact position it's already in, bcuz the hornets will offer eric gordon the max in two years, and he will make it very clear to them that he has no intention of staying with the franchise
― v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 08:33 (twelve years ago) link

anyway the best takeaway from all of this is 1. CP3 -> BLAKE RUNNER all day and 2. lamar odom got traded for a bag of donuts lmao
― nice catch cuauhtemoc blanco niño (dayo), Thursday, 15 December 2011 12:26 (twelve years ago) link
well i think my point (to the extent that i wasn't just being a pain in the ass) was that yes this will be a negative mark on "stern's" legacy" (something no one should actually care about) but that any hand-wringing over "setting a dangerous precedent"/"collusion"/the fury of the lakers and rockets is being 100% overstated because in a couple years everyone is just going to remember that chris paul got traded to the clippers and forget about the rest of this stuff.
― cad, Thursday, 15 December 2011 12:52 (twelve years ago) link
like, "collusion" has been thrown around way too readily on both the players and owners sides in the nba and other leagues recently. if there was actual, provable, collusion going on somebody would be in court.

i didn't have an "argument", if we're talking results and optics wrt layman non-nerd/labor-sympathizing normals, paul, the hornets, the lakers, and the clippers all come out of this better than in the original deal. doesn't mean what happened wasn't shady or is 'ok'

Better than he was during the video session between Games 2 and 3 of the Miami Heat series in last spring’s playoffs.
According to multiple sources, Rondo’s errors were being pointed out when he arose and began discussing the mistakes of his teammates. Loudly. Using harsh language.
Coach Doc Rivers got up and fired back, and Rondo threw a bottle that shattered the video screen. He bolted from the practice facility and was prevented from returning when he tried later.
