It's ok, I found it pretty hilarious too.

Or you could offer to pay her back for the tickets...

I don't think this would work.

JordanC (JordanC), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Or hey, what if you planned a surprise of some sort for her for some other day when she least expected it?

I told her I'd make it up to her.

The tickets were $5 each. It would seem petty.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:33 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyway, I'll think of something. I don't want to turn this into a big old debate about what I should do.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:34 (seventeen years ago) link

then the rest of CHILX are incorrigible raging alcoholics
I have always had a pretty huge fear of getting addicted to something, especially due to extended family history. I was fiercely self-righteous growing up when it came to alot of things and it's taking me a very long time to calm the fuck down about them. So I apologize for coming off as a bitch sometimes.

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:35 (seventeen years ago) link

gimme whatever.

My Saturday afternoon:

Smoked Rattlesnake Sausage with Blueberry-Port Sauce and Smoked Gouda Cheese
- $7.50

JordanC (JordanC), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:36 (seventeen years ago) link

Jordan - real rattlesnake??

What is IO, by the way?

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:37 (seventeen years ago) link

formerly improv olympics.

until the international olympic organization threatened to sue them into oblivion.

chicago kevin is back in a new york groove (chicago kevin), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:38 (seventeen years ago) link

Sarah, I hope so!

(it's on the Hot Doug's menu)

JordanC (JordanC), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Sarah, you're not being a bitch! Sorry to sound snarky.

Yeah, IO = ImprovOlympic. We're seeing TJ and Dave, who are supposed to be the best improvisers in the city, according to my improv friends. We tried to go a couple months ago but didn't realize it was something that routinely sold out, so we were turned away at the box office.

jaymc (jaymc), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:40 (seventeen years ago) link

So I apologize for coming off as a bitch sometimes.

when has this happened, ever?

Bodhisattva, let me take you by the hand (kenan), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:40 (seventeen years ago) link

ok, serious question: "Cut loose like a deuce" vs. "Wrapped up like a douche"?

Bodhisattva, let me take you by the hand (kenan), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:42 (seventeen years ago) link

The former.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:42 (seventeen years ago) link

But why would anyone ever say that?

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:43 (seventeen years ago) link

I guess I worry that sometimes I cross the line from coming off a little prudish to just being a bitch, but also I tend to worry too much, so you can just ignore that.

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:43 (seventeen years ago) link

if you're asking about "blinded by the light" it's "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night".

chicago kevin is back in a new york groove (chicago kevin), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:44 (seventeen years ago) link

it's "revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night"

but springsteen says "cut loose like a deuce". I think I like that better.

Bodhisattva, let me take you by the hand (kenan), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Who wraps up a douche? Worst Valentine's present ever (FYI, John).

n/a (n/a), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 16:46 (seventeen years ago) link

but springsteen didn't write the song.

Speaking of being a raging alcoholic, I'm going to Old Timer's tomorrow after my afternoon class (partially in hopes of getting home at a reasonable hour since I have to work early on Friday morning) and encourage all of you who have flexible work schedules to join me.

Sarah you are NOT a bitch. I loves you.

Handgun O. Mendocino (pullapartgirl), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 17:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I think Sarah's attitudes towards alcohol are influenced by the fact that both of her parents are practically teatotalers.

n/a (n/a), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 17:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Thanks, Jennycakes.

I just made Valentine's plans, meaning a yummy dinner at home, cupcakes, and Lost. :-D

Those happen to be Nick's plans too. Nick, Hi.

Calico (calico), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 17:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Hi guys.

The snowbanks on Lakeshore around 57th street today were quite impressive!

I second Sarah's non-bitchiness.

Fuck Valentine's Day.

I am looking forward to my day off on Friday.

I would hang out tomorrow because I have the day off Friday, what time Jenny?

Thus endeth my update. Carry on.

Oh! By the way this was hilarious and made me snort water up my nose: Who wraps up a douche? Worst Valentine's present ever (FYI, John). Kudos!

Those two Refused songs were awesome (the one you're referencing and the "WHAT FREQUENCY ARE YOU LISTENING? IS IT NOISE OR SWEET SWEET MUSIC?" song).

n/a (n/a), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 19:36 (seventeen years ago) link

I like Refused.

JordanC (JordanC), Wednesday, 14 February 2007 19:40 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't know who Refused is, but the name reminds me of Disturbed or The Used. I am guessing Refused is probably more awesome than either of those bands, though.

Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a video for "Liberation Frequency," the song I was talking about, but you can watch a high school band play it really badly in a gym here: http://youtube.com/watch?v=-UWT5bbTCkY.
