brokerage fees are a pain in the ass, but they're not the fault of UPS! if you had something shipped int'lly, it should be the responsibility of the shipper to inform you of the possibility of import taxes, duties, etc etc.

elmo albatross (allocryptic), Friday, 22 December 2006 18:14 (seventeen years ago) link

but they never do! and shippers usually don't even give you the option of just using regular mail! i understand duty fees, sure, but i don't know how 'brokerage' fees are calculated

impermanent rrrobyn (rrrobyn), Friday, 22 December 2006 18:21 (seventeen years ago) link

UPS charges the highest brokerage fees in the industry - from what I have read. These fees are often 'hidden' to most customers, since they are not included in the item price or the shipping and are separate from the taxes (discussed below). For example, if I were to order a wakeboard for $325 USD from UPS, according to their brokerage fee schedule, I would have to pay $35.55 brokerage + $5.85 disbursement (minimum) + $4.25 fee for collecting brokerage charge. Add taxes, shipping and convert this order to Canadian funds and this order no longer looks like a deal. Apparently you can set it up to clear customs by yourself, but trying to figure out how is as easy as turning water to gold. If your order is shipped UPS when you were told it would be shipped with another company, you can refuse to accept the order & charges and it will be sent back to the retailer.

290. text not doing james brown lyrics any good.

James Brown "Goodbye My Love (Parts 1 and 2)" from "Say it Loud: I'm Black and I'm Proud"

You know sometimes a man
Or a woman makes a mistake
Try to find a reason for making a mistake
But there's no reason to make a mistake
The only thing you do when
You make a mistake is say, "I'm sorry."
It takes a man or a woman to say, "I'm sorry."
It takes a fool to walk away

So right here I want to say, "I'm sorry."
I don't know where you are
But you know I need you
Now there's one more thing I'd like to say right here
I could say, "Maybe, you just don't understand."
I could say, "Baby, I believe you got another man."
And then I could say, "I just can't help myself."
But I wouldn't be a man
And then I could say, "Maybe you don't have nothing left."
But I want you to know: I still love you
Oh no matter where you go, I still love you
Whoa, oh! [Take it down Jimmy]
Goodbye my love, throwing me away!
Goodbye my love

There's one more thing: you know to have
Someone to worry when you worry
To feel the need of a real person
When your friends drop you behind
To kill your anger just by being nice and kind
I could say if you leave, "It wouldn't bother me ."
But I know that would be a lie
Cause Baby, deep down inside you part of me
But I want you to know and I don't care who knows
I still love you!
Whoa, oh, I still love you!
Whoa, oh! [Take it down Jimmy]

Now looky here,
You always been in my corner
Never let me me be a loner
There's one more thing I'd like to say right here
You told me
That no one would ever be able to take my place
That every time the feeling was nice and you fall in my embrace
You said everything would be alright
You had no other love
No other, no other person in your sight
You said there would be another
There would never, never, never be another
And I believed you
I believed you
Yes, I believed you
Cause I want you to know
I still love you!
Whoa, oh!
I still love you!
I don't care who knows!
No, whoa! [Take it down Jimmy]

Goodbye my love
You're throwing me away
Goodbye my love
You're throwing me away
You're throw, You're throwing me away!
You walked away from me
Tell me where I
You walked away from me
There's one more thing
There's one more thing I got to say right here
There's one more thing I got to say right here

I still love you!
Whoa, oh, yeah!
I still love you!
Whoa, oh, oh!!!! [Take it down Jimmy]

Goodbye my love!
So long baby!
Goodbye my love!
You're throwing me away!
You're throwing me away!
You're throwing me away!

msp, LOVE that song. i don't know if it's an oboe or what but something in there plays two notes throughout most of the song and it adds an extra gravity to it. plus jb's shriek is at it's most piercing in that.

297a. stuck at home, thought, 'hey i'll play piano! i love my piano! i never get to play!' and all my books/scores are mysteriously missing from the music room. apparently mom thought that it was just too outrageous to keep MUSIC in the MUSIC ROOM and has relocated everything to some unknown corner of the house where no one will ever find it.

297b. decided to play some records. my collection (all of about 10 records) is mysteriously missing. theory: older sister took with her when she moved to dc. if asked, she will vehemently deny this, but it will be totally obvious cause she'll make up some bullshit story about how she got 10 of the exact same records i'm missing.
