i would say that the dolphins are prob in better position solely for not having $55m committed to matt caseell
otoh chiefs division is much easier to win in
― v-shasty, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 00:18 (twelve years ago) link
If the Dolphins had had a real coach all season they'd be over .500.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 00:30 (twelve years ago) link
Seriously how many games did they lose in pitful fashion because of Sparano being an idiot?
probably less than you think but still too many
― v-shasty, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 00:40 (twelve years ago) link
okay I am somewhere where fox news is on and this line was just uttered:
"can the president learn from tebow about the power of prayer"
― iatee, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 03:50 (twelve years ago) link
omg
― cad, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 03:55 (twelve years ago) link
haven't been watching this game, but i did have some skittles today
― daria, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:02 (twelve years ago) link
there was a blocked punt, there's been multiple halfback passes

dude next time just use that for your bar trivia team name, do not write a column on it
― daria, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:06 (twelve years ago) link
Tebow is not even close to the most physically talented quarterback in the NFL (and he probably isn’t even the most physically talented quarterback on his own team), but he has taken a team sitting in the cellar and lifted it up to playoff contention.
uh you are an idiot who knows nothing about football
― cad, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:07 (twelve years ago) link
also rip todd haley ;_;

― daria, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:08 (twelve years ago) link
lol apparently one reason haley got fired was he wasn't putting in the hours expected of an nfl head coach.
just saving his energy to cuss on game day.
― cad, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:14 (twelve years ago) link
the rams are running the most inept goal line offense i've ever seen
― cad, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:19 (twelve years ago) link
lol my twitter is freaking out
― v-shasty, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:20 (twelve years ago) link
Guys, watching the Rams play the Seahawks really makes you appreciate the ability to follow a team that is competent at football. Dear Lord, that last Rams Red Zone drive, just...I don't even know
― C-L, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:21 (twelve years ago) link
Like I mention way too often, though, whenever the MNF guys openly mock the game they're watching, it is one of my favorite things on TV.
― C-L, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:23 (twelve years ago) link
oh no chucky talking about tebow
― daria, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:26 (twelve years ago) link
<3 seahawk fans throwing skittles on the field
― daria, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:29 (twelve years ago) link
Hahaha that slow-motion replay of the shower of Skittles hitting Lynch is amazing.
― C-L, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:30 (twelve years ago) link
that was definitely worth watching the 4th quarter of this game for
"this whole skittles thing is very bizarre"

So far the Bill Belichick coaching tree doesn't look too hot at this point, not one of them has had much success.

― earlnash, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:48 (twelve years ago) link
belichicks success has been more abt a complete organizational approach prob more than any other supercoach ever - thats harder to take w/you than like a defensive philosophy or w/e
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:53 (twelve years ago) link
i do find it kinda lol to watch his proteges fail for whatever reason, like picture him in his office cackling burning pictures of them mumbling did you really think id give you my secret formula
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:55 (twelve years ago) link
Belichick's assistants are good assistants.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:56 (twelve years ago) link
there are 5 magic ingredients. no one else is ever allowed to know more than 4 of them and they swear a blood oath never to talk to one another.
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:56 (twelve years ago) link
also im of the opinion that the league has to some extent caught up w/him at this point
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:56 (twelve years ago) link
it also helps to have tom brady continue to be tom brady
― iatee, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:58 (twelve years ago) link
oddly great coaches tend to be associated w/great players and vice versa
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:59 (twelve years ago) link
they still seem like a well-coached team to me, with serious talent issues on defense.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:59 (twelve years ago) link
his record before brady was kinda bad wasn't it?
― iatee, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:00 (twelve years ago) link
yeah he was a bust in Cleveland.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:01 (twelve years ago) link
well imho their talent issues to some extent are caused by belichick taking his schtick too far, like any player who dares look him in the eye or like ask for a ten dollar a game raise is immediately cut or traded for mid round draft picks
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:02 (twelve years ago) link
his record in like 3 seasons as a head coach in cleveland was bad, but his record as parcells assistant was v good indeed, and parcells record sans belichick is p underwhelming
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:04 (twelve years ago) link
i was contrasting belichick with andy reid recently in that reid refuses to make any changes to his core approach whereas belichick is always trying to turn things over and find new approaches to keep ahead. he opened a little gap again on offense with the TEs but he has been struggling to make variations click on D. he'll come up with something eventually if he doesn't kill the talent pool with horrible draft picks.
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:04 (twelve years ago) link
his record in cleveland, contrasted with cleveland's record otherwise towards the death of cleaveland mk1, was not too bad tbh
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:05 (twelve years ago) link
i feel like occasionally you have to pay to keep yr good doods
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:05 (twelve years ago) link
they've got edelman playing cornerback. That's a sign that the draft picks are not going well.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:06 (twelve years ago) link
xp kinda false to say they don't do that tho. paid big money for mankins and vince, and brady obv. with the secondary being what it is ppl complain about letting asante go but a CB who can't tackle for shit is anathema to bb
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:07 (twelve years ago) link
it sounds like the only other ppl who ever influenced anything personell wise around there, dimitroff and pioli, are gone and belichik has got carried away with himself, with no one to slap him out of it. he is apparently drafting against scout advice, and like joe says, he has definitely made his message wrt not taking any shit from players, maybe he can relax with the cutting all of the players from one position midseason thing.
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:11 (twelve years ago) link
if you look here you wont find a patriots player in the top 45 spots, which is p amazing and has served them well, but i think theyve just gone too far http://www.spotrac.com/top-salaries/nfl/
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:12 (twelve years ago) link
wow srsly there are two patriots in the top 100 paid players in the nfl
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:13 (twelve years ago) link
why is it just base salaries? some teams pay high base, some teams load bonuses. it is a matter of team philosophy i guess. this is curiously useless information on its own.
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:15 (twelve years ago) link
o rly i missed that scratch my previous remarks
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:15 (twelve years ago) link
their plan is fine: build around draft picks cuz non-first rounders are cheap. But they keep drafting guys who kind of suck.
― Matt Armstrong, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:15 (twelve years ago) link
i am worried it is a combo of bad draft and poor player development, because they have had complete suffers from the outset but also promising players that have turned to shit (pls bounce back mccourty)
― horseshoe loves tom brady, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:17 (twelve years ago) link
well i think unless you attempt to retain some of yr good doods thats gonna be the inevitable effect
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 05:18 (twelve years ago) link
i am just "enjoying football" this season. as far as NE goes i have seen this movie before. altho even tho i know the ending i will prob still cry into my pillow after the 40-pt playoff defeat by baltimore. i have never seen a 10-3 team play do horrifyingly before, so that has been cool. and there is always gronk. i dunno, bill will come up with something next year. seeing this D must be like hot irons to his pride.
