Another medical retirement seems in order here. Can't he get a note from his doctor that would satisfy the insurance company's lawyers?

nets "debating" whether to put a claim in for chauncey billups in amnesty circus.
not sure why they'd do that. they have dwill, and they need money to get dwight howard. billups has no trade value, because he's made clear he'll retire if he's dealt to an insufficiently competitive team (e.g., a howard-less magic).
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 12 December 2011 21:28 (twelve years ago) link
wait so can teams over the salary cap not put in a bid at all for amnesty guys? im still confused on how this thing works. im guessing they cant because i assume some contender (celts, lakers, mavs??) would be all over a minimum bid for chauncey even as a third guard or injury insurance
― concussion section, Monday, 12 December 2011 21:31 (twelve years ago) link
also can i just looool at the TWOLVES swooping in for barea, that dude is only useful in the exact situation he was in for the mavs (change-of-pace third guard on a slow, old, contending team with guard depth)
― concussion section, Monday, 12 December 2011 21:32 (twelve years ago) link
like, really, you just paid a dude 5m a year to block rubio from seeing the court
― concussion section, Monday, 12 December 2011 21:33 (twelve years ago) link
it appears the nets are playing a very calculating game:
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA -- If Orlando believes signing Billups could help keep Dwight Howard, clearly Nets are suggesting: Well, maybe Big Shot won't be a free agent.
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 12 December 2011 21:34 (twelve years ago) link
billups isn't going to orlando as a free-agent, anyway. and billups -- at 35 -- isn't keeping howard in orlando for any length of time.
― Daniel, Esq., Monday, 12 December 2011 21:35 (twelve years ago) link
Twolves GM to Rubio: "You're our guy. Leave europe and come play here". Twolves GM under his breath: "You will pay for jilting me."

david kahn made the decision that the wolves needed another point guard - you don't question david kahn about point guards

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA -- Y! Sources: Hornets GM Dell Demps a "spectator" in basketball decisions. Stern's deputies running Chris Paul talks.

what's the t-wolves story?
JJ Barea should buy Dirk a thank you gift.
― Aimless, Monday, 12 December 2011 21:46 (twelve years ago) link
well, maybe i was wrong about dwight howard maybe staying in orlando if they land billups. hm.

man if this shit is true magic are srsly taking advantage of dwights good nature, what a crap org

you mentioned it in an earlier post but if billups is claimed he can't be traded for the rest of the season

there's nothing wrong with the Lee deal if he's been amazing in camp. Unorthodox but fine.
I like how the league quietly allowed the Wolves to retain the rights to Ngombo to save them the embarrassment of making officially the worst second round pick ever.

I'm glad they've handed stewardship of the Hornets over to Stu Jackson. His sterling record as Grizzlies GM from 1994 to 2000 assures me that he's the right guy for the job.

player/owner war of attrition continues:
The NBA sent a letter to Andy Miller, Billups’ agent, on Monday morning, warning him there could be consequences for Billups if he fails to live up to his professional obligations with a team that claims him off waivers, a league source said.Miller had sent a letter to multiple NBA teams encouraging them not to put in a claim on Billups, and Billups told Yahoo! Sports that he could become a problem for a team that did so. The NBA reacted in strong terms, warning Billups he wasn’t allowed to usurp the amnesty process. Clearly, the NBA is on a mission to get a tighter grip on player movement.
