There's no chance we won't lose this game.

Projected table based on latest scores
Position Team P GD PTS
Full Premier League table
1 Man City 14 35 38
2 Man Utd 15 21 36
3 Tottenham 14 12 31
4 Arsenal 15 8 29
5 Chelsea 14 14 28

considering the unspoken potential for lols at city, this is a v. open season, 5 teams still kinda in the race by december.

big popppa hoy, Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:34 (twelve years ago) link

spurs dominating possession now, but adebayor looking wasteful and vdv invisible

mizzell, Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:38 (twelve years ago) link

parker having his worst game for spurs too

mizzell, Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:43 (twelve years ago) link

vdv and adebayor completely lacking interest, lennon and bale aren't on their toes, walker not one bit bothered about defending either goal, and the ref happy for it to be a physical affair- yep, we're going down here today

Shotton just had one of the worst halves of someone purporting to be a professional footballer I've ever seen. He also set up 2 goals by throwing it very far.

VDV has been poor. Why is Bale right and Lennon left?

If City win tmrw there is no way in hell that Arsenal or Chelsea are making up 12/13 pts on them in the 2nd half of the season.

pandemic, Sunday, 11 December 2011 16:56 (twelve years ago) link

bale and lennon switch wings all the time. people like to complain about it. can't see spurs scoring off crosses anyway with 11 stoke players in their own box.

spurs getting totally hosed by the ref here today. Shawcross can fuck off as well. Woodgate should have been off in the first half also.

sounds like Chris Foy has had a proper shitshow

ha xp

Extreme Lifestyle, Sunday, 11 December 2011 17:52 (twelve years ago) link

why are these inbreds booing modric

nakhchivan, Sunday, 11 December 2011 17:52 (twelve years ago) link

he got in the way of some great stoke defending

mizzell, Sunday, 11 December 2011 17:53 (twelve years ago) link

if the defender pulls his foot back after kickin you it's no foul in stoke

bloating forecast: ruff swells (p much resigned to deems), Sunday, 11 December 2011 17:54 (twelve years ago) link

foy's a cunt, i dunno what was in that for him today but that was a rotten show of cheating he endorsed

bloating forecast: ruff swells (p much resigned to deems), Sunday, 11 December 2011 17:58 (twelve years ago) link

this is effed up -- same referee disallowed stoke goal in same fixture last season, surely they are (if not entirely consciously) liable to favour stoke?

refs are pliable enough when faced with 30k angry reets without a guilt complex too

nakhchivan, Sunday, 11 December 2011 18:00 (twelve years ago) link

dunno but for him to book kaboul after the penalty shout was a disgrace

Fuck stoke tho

bloating forecast: ruff swells (p much resigned to deems), Sunday, 11 December 2011 18:01 (twelve years ago) link

nah that's fair enough, it was a booking and allowing it to 'even things out' is corrupt

nakhchivan, Sunday, 11 December 2011 18:03 (twelve years ago) link

Hmmmmmm. Not really. City are 10 points clear of 5th-placed Chelsea. Looking back, the last four seasons were all closer than this in mid-December. This time last year only 3 points separated the top four and Spurs in 5th were just 7 points back (and Bolton and Sunderland were only 9 points back). The last time the pack were out of contention by mid-December was 2006.

The Artist Formerly Known As Teh HoBB, Sunday, 11 December 2011 20:35 (twelve years ago) link

ok but utd have lost their best players (pea and vidic) and i still feel their is a major collapse at city, making those 10 points less of a gap than they seem atm. i think it could be fun up until march (in which utd just run away with it.)

It all depends on City having a bad patch, but there's no particular reason why they should. They're destroying nearly everyone and it's not because they're in exceptional form imo, they're just a stronger squad of better players playing in line with their ability. Everyone else bar maybe Chelsea is more likely to suffer a dip, and that's only because Chelsea have just had theirs.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 December 2011 21:00 (twelve years ago) link

They employ Balotelli and you say there's no particular reason?

http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/eden-hazard-v-dijon/

Hazard on how to 'pass it into the goal' commentator cliche. (Totally ruined by the post-goal stadium musics but a fun goal nonetheless.)

big popppa hoy, Sunday, 11 December 2011 21:02 (twelve years ago) link

He's a good player though. Anyway, haul him off, put on Agüero, sorted.

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 December 2011 21:05 (twelve years ago) link

I don't really know what's going to happen - I feel there's about a 50% chance that City will just pull away and win by >10 points, but there's also a 50% chance things will stay fairly tight for a while. I could see City having a wobble, but I'd be very surprised if they had a total implosion - I can't see them finishing lower than second. I could see United coming anywhere from first to fourth.

The Artist Formerly Known As Teh HoBB, Sunday, 11 December 2011 21:06 (twelve years ago) link

all of that sounds about right

Ban (Julie Lagger), Sunday, 11 December 2011 21:09 (twelve years ago) link

That sounds about right. Tomorrow night could be absolutely key actually - on paper it's the hardest game City have left this season(!)

Ismael Klata, Sunday, 11 December 2011 21:10 (twelve years ago) link

fuck stoke foy & the fa that perpetuate reffing like today's everyone out
