To make sense of an Odom trade with respect to a future Howard deal, about the best I can do is a four-for-two deal that sends Howard, Duhon and Turkoglu to L.A. for Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum, and puts Jameer Nelson into the exception created by Odom's trade. In this scenario, getting Nelson to alleviate the point guard hole might ease some of the sting of the Lakers' trading both star big men to land Howard and would give the Magic added cap relief.

The Magic aren't trading away both of their point guards.

What does Houston do?
First, hide the sharp objects in Daryl Morey's office. After that, the Rockets have a few alternatives. For one, they can turn around and try to get Paul directly, using many of the same players they were angling to use to get Pau Gasol from New Orleans in the defunct three-way deal. Also, Houston is likely out of the running for Nene minus the cap space the three-way deal would have created, but the Rockets might decide to jump in on the Chauncey Billups amnesty bidding, allowing them to dangle Kyle Lowry and Goran Dragic as trade bait. The Rockets also might sign Marc Gasol to an offer sheet.

One thing is clear -- the Rockets had been building assets to set up a trade exactly like this one, a home run that left them with a Gasol-Nene front line and a three- to four-year window to win a title. More than anybody, they got absolutely screwed by how this all went down.

he's a solid defender man. Crafty with steals, strong, mobile.

nene so rarely looks to score that it's hard to say, jord.

I would say he likes to isolate and face up mid-post.

man nene kinda sux, doesnt rebound, doesnt protect the rim, always injured, scores efficiently but has never averaged more than 15ppg

kinda pissed that the post-melo nuggets were only around for a half season, that team was exciting as fuck

nene made the most sense to me in that environment, where he could really run the break. dude was dropping atomic dunks on fools in that thunder series.

"protecting the rim" is the most overvalued defensive skill there is.
