i don't know how to get RAR files. i tried to download free RARware, but i still can't make it work. lotsa cool psychblog stuff is zipped that way. i'd like to download the Yankee Dollar album that dude has up. although it might be too old by now anyway.

2006 mix is a little easier on the ear than the 2005 mix, it doesn't feel like an xmas mix without bantam rooster's "let's just fuck for christmas" though, so leaving that off may have been a mistake.

otto midnight, that 'tofu makes you gay' ding dong (otto midnight), Monday, 18 December 2006 18:03 (seventeen years ago) link

i don't think i had ever heard the raiders xmas song on the xmas mix. thanks for that!

scott, have you heard the 2nd & 3rd volumes of the pearls tribute comps?
i like a lot of the stuff on em.

oh and i am downloading otto's mix and listening to:
-david hemmings
-neil
-judee sill heartgood (side 2; 'solder of the heart' is my jam. so is 'the donor')
-roy orbison Sun comp
-side 1 of al stewart's love chronicles

ian (orion), Monday, 18 December 2006 18:55 (seventeen years ago) link

nah, i never have. i'm sure they are fine. i like the first one, but for some reason i never end up playing the whole thing. it's nice and mellow though. be good at bed time. my copy is actually tom rapp's. he gave it to his friend lucy and she gave it to me cuz she never listened to it and she knew i liked him. lucy is the world's foremost authority on lady gregory:

Oh thanks - You know, I am not a big XTC/Robyn Hitchcock guy at all. (I do like the first Soft Boys record and I Often Dream of Trains and Fegmania.) But I am open to it. Do you have the Paul Roland album mentioned on that blog post, Scott? That's an interesting record. Kind of sounds like if Nikki Sudden had a band full of prog heads.

crazy! with everyone listing so much crypt and '90s garage stuff recently I almost asked if anyone was into this album. I knew those guys in columbia MO, they hung out at the radio station sometimes.

i saw nikki sudden this past spring or summer and really wasn't expecting much but it was seriously an awesome show. too bad only 20 people in chicago could be bothered to come out.

first new cd i've bought in months:
munk - aperitivo

v/a - Razormaid Chapter 9: the Dub Mix (80s double lp of disco re-edits. has Yoko Ono's 'walking on thin ice' even though it's supposed to have a nina hagen song and has a crazy rocking disco song by elton john. it's on white vinyl which is really stupid because you can't see the lines between the songs)

buncha dollar records
Pulsallama - Ungaway Pt II/ The Devil Lives in my Husband's Body 12"
Eye to Eye - s/t (weird cosmic, jazzy new wave. steely dan like song writing - gary katz producing - with a joni mitchell like singer)
Koto - Japanese War Game 12"
Casiopea - Sunrise (asayake) 12" (weird balearic disco. wife thinks it sounds like elevator music)
Kaoma - Jambe Finete 12" (afro electric)
The Roches - Keep on Doing

if it weren't for the spousal abuse and uncategorized assholish behavior in general i would worship ike turner. holy fuck the guitar on this record sounds great.
