The have-one-drink ethos as a hangover wanes doesn't work for me anymore.

Lord Sotosyn, Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:31 (twelve years ago) link

well i've put my contact lenses in now so i'm committed. i am in a nice zen mood which means i am prepared and will be happy with either the party being underwhelming and me coming home in an hour, or the party ending up being one of those that's still going in 10 hours

degas-dirty monet (lex pretend), Saturday, 10 December 2011 22:35 (twelve years ago) link

Something marvelous happens when you cross the bar into your thirties: as your tolerance for 10-hour parties decreases, so does the desire to attend them.

Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 11 December 2011 18:49 (twelve years ago) link

(or at best attend them for five or six hours)

Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 11 December 2011 18:49 (twelve years ago) link

I think I attended one for 2 hours last night! Many ILXors and a variety of fun, and introduced myself to a cute blogger (when his bf stepped away).

I was supposed to leave for Chicago today but I awoke with a sore throat yesterday and it's not improving; didn't want to endure a three-hour plane ride, cold, and the rigors of drinking.

Lord Sotosyn, Sunday, 11 December 2011 19:19 (twelve years ago) link

bummer. otoh, it's cold in Chicago.

Dr Morbius, Sunday, 11 December 2011 19:21 (twelve years ago) link

How are my girls?

Stevie :-D, Thursday, 15 December 2011 13:40 (twelve years ago) link

Listen you.

"Can I ask you really huge favor?"

Detrius of Life (Eric H.), Thursday, 15 December 2011 13:49 (twelve years ago) link

Fit twink in the locker room complimented my tattoos and we chatted about Cervantes.

Friendly, confident people are so weird! Not in a bad way. But I can't fathom their motives or ways. Would like to be "friendlier." 11 years in the South taught me nothing!

Sandbox Jesse, Thursday, 15 December 2011 14:24 (twelve years ago) link

I can occasionally fake being a friendly, confident people

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:04 (twelve years ago) link

Does it concern you that it might look fake, and therefore weird?

Sandbox Jesse, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:17 (twelve years ago) link

not enough to stop me.

the confidence part is harder.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:20 (twelve years ago) link

Liquor = confidence. For better or for worse.

Sandbox Jesse, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:29 (twelve years ago) link

I don't think there has to be a motive (or, at least, a motive as you think of it, i.e. something self-serving). I love being friendly to people and my motive is simply that I enjoy making others smile and stuff, and sure I mean I guess when you dissect
It one could say that my deeper motive is that it makes me feel important or likable or something but idk, I feel like a lot of it is just "hey, I like it when people are friendly to me and I have an opportunity to be that person"

Stevie :-D, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:30 (twelve years ago) link

was totally going tongue-in-cheek up there.... I'm enough of an optimist (when it comes to individuals) to usually want to be friendly to ppl, despite what a snake I am on the internets.

You aways make me smile, Stevie!

My life is becoming filled w gay men btw. At the end of the week I am moving into my new place with this too-cute-for-his-own-good 40something hipster artist type (who is maybe a bit in his own world) and we've sort of become each others new platonic gay buddies. There's another guy living there too (the dude's ex and now friend) but he's only there 3 days a week so it'll mainly just be me and my new gay bro. Kinda excited about having a live-in fag to talk about boys and bikes and clothes with. Also he's good at cooking!

And then there's my dude 5c0tt; we've been dating for 3 wks and I feel like in so many ways he's the guy I've been waiting a while for. We hang out almost every day and we're both excited about doing things together and stuff. I really really really like this dude.

Stevie :-D, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:45 (twelve years ago) link

xp aw, you too bud!

Stevie :-D, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:46 (twelve years ago) link

"Can I ask you really huge favor?"

Yaaaay.

I am moving, with my bf, into a house with another gay next month. I am excited, we haven't had any roommates for five or six years.

oPal, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:54 (twelve years ago) link

Roommates/housemates, either/or.

oPal, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:55 (twelve years ago) link

I need more live gay pals in my life, but they'd need to read, watch movies, and listen to music too, and none of my few gay pals meet these criteria. We don't have to share opinions -- mine are too brilliant to dispute an yway.

Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 15 December 2011 15:58 (twelve years ago) link

to love oneself is the beginning of etc.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 15 December 2011 16:13 (twelve years ago) link

wish i had more gay pals here too

silvana mangano, Thursday, 15 December 2011 16:17 (twelve years ago) link

i had enjoyable platonic drinks this week with two separate guys tho so i remain optimistic

silvana mangano, Thursday, 15 December 2011 16:19 (twelve years ago) link

i'm going on a (second) date tonight

*nervous.gif*

v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 16:44 (twelve years ago) link

how was the first?

Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 15 December 2011 16:48 (twelve years ago) link

really good! an easy 2.5 hours at the bar, we hugged as we departed and we've been talking on text/gchat since then.

v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 16:52 (twelve years ago) link

aw that is about the most PG date story ever related in the gay threads :)

degas-dirty monet (lex pretend), Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:09 (twelve years ago) link

ha, well i'm trying to "go slow" with this one. i mean there's a good chance that we have sex tonight, but two dates seems like enough time.

v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:19 (twelve years ago) link

I just never posted all my dates that consisted of having a cherry phosphate at the St Louis World's Fair in 1904.

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:26 (twelve years ago) link

loool

nuhnuhnuh, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:28 (twelve years ago) link

"cherry phosphate" sounds like poppers

Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:29 (twelve years ago) link

ha, well i'm trying to "go slow" with this one. i mean there's a good chance that we have sex tonight, but two dates seems like enough time.

Depends how you define sex (and I'm not trying to get TMI). In the last three years if there isn't some groping by the first date I can pretty much say goodbye to my chances on the second or third.

Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:33 (twelve years ago) link

oh i don't mean like full on penetrative sex (which i'm not really into anyway?) -- but i think anything between that and making out is potentially on the table, but we'll see!

i mean before the first date i made a rule to myself that i was just gonna leave it at that

v-shasty, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:37 (twelve years ago) link

kissing is the best, and requires the least cleanup.

(semi-j/k)

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:42 (twelve years ago) link

we're about due for a tabes post, no?

Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:43 (twelve years ago) link

if it's a poetic ode to kissing, yes.

nuhnuhnuh, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:45 (twelve years ago) link

i think if we're not doing everything and anything on the first date he might not want to talk to us

degas-dirty monet (lex pretend), Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:46 (twelve years ago) link

now there's the yuletide spirit!

Lord Sotosyn, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:47 (twelve years ago) link

*hopes TITT has a good first-date fisting story up his... sleeve* har har

nuhnuhnuh, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:50 (twelve years ago) link

or something to do w/ sounding & cherry phosphate

Dr Morbius, Thursday, 15 December 2011 17:51 (twelve years ago) link

Wait who are v shasty and nuhuhuh? Jordan and someone else?

Stevie :-D, Thursday, 15 December 2011 18:37 (twelve years ago) link
