daniel r u aware that u r in no way affiliated w/the miami heat
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:34 (twelve years ago) link
billups is still a very solid player btw, if the heat got him it would be absolutely game over why even play the season
― k3vin k., Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:35 (twelve years ago) link
It was v. v. weird to hear Cuban on the radio yesterday talking about having to completely change his relationship to spending money/contracts. Doesn't really inspire confidence in me because there's not much evidence that Cuban or his front office people are great at evaluating talent.
― milo z, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:35 (twelve years ago) link
ha! i know. curiously enough, a law school friend of mine has become the team's general-counsel, which sounds like a dream job.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:36 (twelve years ago) link
ask him for a job bro
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:36 (twelve years ago) link
her
i should!

lol girls cant be lawyers
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:38 (twelve years ago) link
btw dalembert is garbage, scores like 4pts a game for his opponents via goal tends, ive never seen anything like it, of course he is immediately by far the heats best center should he end up there
hahaha
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:44 (twelve years ago) link
ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Source close to process tells ESPN that, as long as Kings have enough cap room, they can sign and trade Dalembert even after renouncing him15 seconds ago
i dont understand what this means, and other things, nba is driving me insane right now
He is technically a free agent, but until he signs elsewhere he is still "theirs" so I believe they can sign and trade him and not fall under the "can't be traded for x days" rule any other team would be restricted by.
If they have enough space to sign him and trade him to someone like Dallas they could get back something in return, possibly freeing up some space for Dallas and getting a pick or something for their trouble.
― EZ Snappin, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:47 (twelve years ago) link
can't see what heat would offer, realistically, for dalembert, that would be of interest to kings. not giving them haslem or even miller for dalembert, i suspect.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:48 (twelve years ago) link
if the heat get billups they could play me at center and win 60 games
― k3vin k., Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:50 (twelve years ago) link
Stein goofed by saying they "renounced him" because I'm pretty sure he was an unrestricted free agent. You only renounce RFAs.
― EZ Snappin, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:50 (twelve years ago) link
got to think theres no way the heat get billups, another team will take him just to block the acquisition if necessary, one would think this scenario would hold for any other dude they desire
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:52 (twelve years ago) link
For $1 million he's a fair chip to have, even if he doesn't play for your team.
― EZ Snappin, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:53 (twelve years ago) link
the thing no one wants to talk about is that it doesn't matter what auxiliary players the heat pick up -- they win the finals if lebron doesn't turn into a zombie in the playoffs
― v-shasty, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:54 (twelve years ago) link
Sadly true.
― EZ Snappin, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:55 (twelve years ago) link
eh imho both the celtics and the bulls had sufficient defensive schemes to stop the heat last year bron just hit a bunch of bad three pointers and then returned to earth v dallas, having yr best three players not being able to shoot the three is nagl, which is not to say the heat cant win it, but their big weakness was to some extent exposed last year
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:57 (twelve years ago) link
srsly like fall away threes in the fourth quater of tight games, he swung like 4 games in two rounds
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:58 (twelve years ago) link
i'm more interested in the billups story for its connection to the broader war that's been waged (beginning the second the CBA was ratified) between players and owners over player's ability to choose their employers.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:58 (twelve years ago) link
dirk didnt even play that well in the finals, dallas just dared the bulls to hit threes and they did not
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 20:59 (twelve years ago) link
which btw i predicted B-)
eh, heat will be a better three-point shooting team this year. and i think they may get better at the center position, too.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:00 (twelve years ago) link
i mean the heat obvs xp B-)
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:00 (twelve years ago) link
why will the heat be a better three point shooting team exactly
Chauncey now saying he'll take his ball and go home if he can't pick his team. Mr. Big Shot acting like a five year old. Mr. Big Snot.
― EZ Snappin, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:00 (twelve years ago) link
heat are v good, but not shoo-ins by any stretch. mavs proved it last year. being a top 2 team has never been a guarantee of a chip. even the jordan bulls were taken to 7 games on numerous occasions.
shrug, billups gets to make those decisions. it's his life, his body, his talent, his choice.
― Aimless, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:02 (twelve years ago) link
lol nagl, do yr whining behind closed doors via yr agent like everyone else dofus
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:02 (twelve years ago) link

assuming they get billups, he's a good 3 pt shooter. and assuming mike miller can actually play some minutes. also if they get billups it will not matter if they can shoot the 3 because it would be a ridiculous upgrade on already the best team in the league
― k3vin k., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:04 (twelve years ago) link
so assuming they become a better three point shooting team they will be a better three point shooting team
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:05 (twelve years ago) link
battier and (hopefully healthy) miller and house.
Ethan Skolnick @EthanJSkolnick -- With Jones/Battier/Miller/House, Spoelstra has four shooters historically at 38 percent of better from 3.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:06 (twelve years ago) link
lol 'historically'
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:06 (twelve years ago) link
those guys are indeed historical
yes, if they sign the player with the best secondary percentage in the league and successfully rehab a player known as a sniper before he was injured, i would say they become a better 3 pt shooting team
― k3vin k., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:07 (twelve years ago) link
xps joe
why would anyone think those things are going to happen tho
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:07 (twelve years ago) link
Joseph Goodman @MiamiHeraldHeat -- #Heat center Eddy Curry says he lost 70 pounds. Looks like he needs to lose another 50.
i'm rooting for curry now, tho.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:08 (twelve years ago) link
mike miller cant stay healthy and hasnt been able to for a while and billups doesnt play for them
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:08 (twelve years ago) link

and you realize they had three of those guys last year
i do not deny it.
― Daniel, Esq., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:09 (twelve years ago) link
and you still have to contend w/the fact that the guys on the heat who actually take all the shot dont shoot the three well
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:09 (twelve years ago) link
also it should be pointed out to all the miller apologists that even when hes been healthy over the last five or so years his usage rate has been laughably low, he either cant get open, doesnt want to shoot or more likely some combo of the two
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:10 (twelve years ago) link
i stand by my point that if the heat get billups the nba might as well not even play this season
― k3vin k., Saturday, 10 December 2011 21:15 (twelve years ago) link
i'm sure eddy curry has a ways to go no matter what -- and maybe he's washed-up beyond repair -- but he looks much better than the last time i saw pictures of him. anyway, good for him, whether or not he can resume his nba career.
