i like the chorus of that song a lot, don't really like xtina on it at all but what else is new

v-shasty, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:09 (twelve years ago) link

Someone at work keeps singing it at me because they know it winds me up.

xposts oh you cunt.

dog latin, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:09 (twelve years ago) link

when i was in russia i heard "moves like jagger" like literally 5 times a day. i kind of...came round to it :(

degas-dirty monet (lex pretend), Friday, 9 December 2011 16:09 (twelve years ago) link

basically exactly what miami did to me 12 months previously with "only girl in the world"

degas-dirty monet (lex pretend), Friday, 9 December 2011 16:10 (twelve years ago) link

Thanks for breaking my browser.

Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:10 (twelve years ago) link

just change the lyric to "louis jagger" in your head, might make it funnier.

dog latin, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:10 (twelve years ago) link

it could be worse, if I had mod powers here I could have made them all autoplay

OH NOES, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:11 (twelve years ago) link

the only one of those songs that i know for sure i've heard is fuck you; i think maybe i've heard party rock anthem and firework also.

n/a, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:11 (twelve years ago) link

oh i've heard super bass too, nevermind.

n/a, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:12 (twelve years ago) link

A nation thanks god that you were exposed to kryptonite then.

xxpost

Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:12 (twelve years ago) link

Just the other day one of our students said, amazed, "You like 'Super Bass' and not Drake?"

Was the angle Drake-love or pop-hate?

Ned Raggett, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:12 (twelve years ago) link

really "Firework" is the only one I find unbearable; the one that gets consistently underrated is "Grenade"

OH NOES, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:13 (twelve years ago) link

"If you like that thing, then there's no reason why you can't love Drake too."

Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:13 (twelve years ago) link

Super Bass is far and away the best thing on that Billboard list.

Matt DC, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:14 (twelve years ago) link

"Super Bass" suffers a little from the start-stops and the bridge is somewhat disconnected from the rest of the song

OH NOES, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:15 (twelve years ago) link

only one that comes close is "give me everything"

degas-dirty monet (lex pretend), Friday, 9 December 2011 16:16 (twelve years ago) link

is it wrong that I look at that Billboard list and think to myself "LOL @ Blake Shelton"?

OH NOES, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:17 (twelve years ago) link

I don't mind "Give Me Everything" now, thanks to our Clear Channel station playing it every 14 seconds.

Lord Sotosyn, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:17 (twelve years ago) link

Although I tend to think of Super Bass as an end-credits mallpop song rather than a rap record.

Matt DC, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:17 (twelve years ago) link

gimme a few minutes and i'll do a poll of the top 50 hot 100 songs where we can take this convo

Mr. Stevenson #2, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:18 (twelve years ago) link

"Super Bass" is prob. best on that list, though my weakness for disco-pop means I also like "Rolling in the Deep" and "Moves Like Jagger."

jaymc, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:29 (twelve years ago) link

I hate Katy Perry's voice on "Firework," but I think it's a well-constructed pop song.

jaymc, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:29 (twelve years ago) link

seriously, the "MO-oo-OO-oo-oo-oo-ves" part gives me some weird pokemon j-pop vibes that i dont really understand why

boof troop (dealwithit.gif), Friday, 9 December 2011 16:39 (twelve years ago) link

ay-yi-yi
I'm your little butterfly
With the moo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-oo-ooves like Jagger

OH NOES, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:47 (twelve years ago) link

"super bass" is the best big pop single of the year - everyone still goes crazy when it comes on at parties/clubs/any public space. could've been "countdown" though if beyoncé had given it a proper push. ;_;

bayou goo, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:53 (twelve years ago) link

I hate Katy Perry's voice on "Firework," but I think it's a well-constructed pop song.

yeah totally. actually I don't even mind her voice on it. I'm a little surprised everybody hates it.

Moves Like Jagger and ET are awful though.
