if we went to bed earlier, we would have missed the trade, the un-trade, the CP3 reaction, the gilbert email, the odom reaction, the . . .

oh, morning. i had this bizzare dream where the heat signed eddy curry. lol.
I went to bed. It was nice. Though I'm sorry I missed the "mid-round/18-20/u suck at math" kerfuffle.

im sry i was clearly quite drunk, i went to bed three hours ago, just woke up thinking it was like noon and had to check back in, my god
it was a really terrible trade tho, dan gilbert otm re salaries even if he did use comic sans
it would be p funny if the lakers just ended up getting howard instead

not looking like they will . . .
Chris Sheridan @sheridanhoops -- Dwight Howard is reportedly going to ask for a trade to the Nets, unless things suddenly change. Which can happen.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 13:43 (twelve years ago) link
lol
In light of the league's refusal to allow Chris Paul to dictate a trade to the Los Angeles Lakers, one has to wonder if it will sit idly by and let Howard facilitate a move to the Nets.
if the nba won't let a star player move to the NEW JERSEY NETS, who WILL they let him move to?
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 13:44 (twelve years ago) link
i sympathize w/players wanting to force trades to certain places and all but its really starting to be kinda a downer
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Friday, 9 December 2011 13:47 (twelve years ago) link
good question
Ethan Skolnick @EthanJSkolnick -- If the half of the players who didn't bother to vote on the new CBA were given another chance to vote now, how would they vote?
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 13:58 (twelve years ago) link
theyd prob vote wtf is going on right now

now that would make the paul trade look quite reasonable in comparison
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Friday, 9 December 2011 14:06 (twelve years ago) link
haha. yep. well, bear in mind that bynum is the only other player discussed as the "centerpiece" going to the magic in exchange for howard.
if healthy for the long-haul, i'd take bynum over lopez, but that's a big if.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 14:12 (twelve years ago) link
feel like some other teams are gonna be wanting in on this howard sweepstakes, like who doesnt want dwight howard
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Friday, 9 December 2011 14:13 (twelve years ago) link
if only there were some other really good player that could be moved for him straight up
haha.

sorry, we are not trading eddy curry to orlando for dwight howard.
eddy curry is part of our long-term future plans.

that suxxx about roy
― amon, Friday, 9 December 2011 15:44 (twelve years ago) link
not sure there are that many teams under-the-cap, and thus entitled to bid for billups services. i'd guess that at least one of them would take him, if only to get something in trade when he forces his way to his preferred destination.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 15:50 (twelve years ago) link
but i bet he'd like to go to the heat, for the chance to play against the NYK this year.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 15:51 (twelve years ago) link
Is there a minimum bid - say, the veteran's minimum? Otherwise, someone could get an amnestied dude for like $1/year. Which is kind of great, come to think of it.
― EZ Snappin, Friday, 9 December 2011 15:53 (twelve years ago) link
yeah, there's a vet/minimum.
but again, billups can create leverage for himself by announcing that he's going to be an unmotivated player and locker-room problem if he winds up in an undesriable situation.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 16:01 (twelve years ago) link
he has done that already via his agent iirc
― Cooper Chucklebutt, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:02 (twelve years ago) link
right; that's what i meant. i also figured that, with the passage of time and perhaps realizing his actual leverage was limited, he may soften his stance. so we'll see.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 16:03 (twelve years ago) link
i mean, right now he's not being threatened with release by the NYK; he's actually been released by the NYK. so if his complaints were designed to deter that from happening, he failed and it's over.
― Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 16:05 (twelve years ago) link
awww brandon :(
― cad, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:06 (twelve years ago) link
so if a guy gets amnestied, the team pays him his contract but it doesn't go against the cap, correct? but what happens when he gets picked back up?
― v-shasty, Friday, 9 December 2011 16:08 (twelve years ago) link
correct up to the last sentence, where i don't know.
btw, james jones returns to the heat
Ira Winderman @IraHeatBeat -- Agent Joel Bell confirms to Sun Sentinel that James Jones has agreed to a three-year deal to return to the Heat.

my understanding is if he gets picked up in the draft/wavier wire thing i dont know what to call mode then the team who picks him up pays some set amount of the contract while the original team pays the rest - if no one picks him up hes a free agent and his original team pays the entire contract
