Skot I am around! I was just rapping with you yesterday! went to see Allen Toussaint last night. he was great, although the set felt a little short. Still, one of my true heros.

I have not heard or heard of Giant Brain, but I will definitely keep my eyes peeled. I met that dude who runs Small Stone once, at a release party for some issue of Motorbooty. I miss that mag. Five Horse Johnson played, I thought they were kind of bad. Definitely not as good as Eric's old band Gone In Sixty Seconds.

just settling in here with a six pack of Anchor Steam Barleywine ale and a big stack-o-rekkerds. lotsa Little Feat and various 7"s on tap...

i really really liked the last Five Horse Johnson album. So solid. It was the first thing I ever liked by them and it kinda blew me away a little.

i drank a 6 pack of anchor steam barleywine once and my skull never forgave me.

amon: no Cipollina, no credibility!

I had been really psyched to hear Five Horse Johnson at the time cuz I had loved Gone In Sixty Seconds so much, but they just seemed to lack something. I guess I should check in on them again though. I'll look for the recent one.

guitar player = Phil Durr?? oh man, I love that guy. biggest Eddie Hazel copyist in the universe, but he was a GREAT Eddie Hazel copyist. I was a massive Big Chief fan, saw them so many times I could never count all the shows. pulled out "Mack Avenue Skullgane" just a few weeks ago. thanks for the tip, I will definitely check out the Giant Brain now..

you probably have enough to listen to, but i put up a huge mix of late 60's/early 70's country/soul/funk/pop that i made from 45s:

The Red White & Blue In Black & White - Skot's Saigon Shuffle Mix

yeah it looks awesome! and I see that you put "Day Drinker" on it! I confess I am a couple mixes behind -- I still need to listen to your 80s mix -- but all the rest of them have been awesome so far, really great stuff.

Small Stone is loaded with great bands. I kept trying to get Novadriver and others to play at the Elbow Room in Ypsi when I still worked there.
