The Camping 3 and the Boogy Bytes sound great, and all of those Ellen remixes should be interesting.

one month passes...
camping 3 is rather disappointing :(

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 11:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I've only heard the samples, and am waiting for the CD (not the leak) but I was surprised at how really upfront with the pop & big Berlin celebrating it was. Almost cheesy. I wonder if they've reached a bit of an impasse w/r/t their whole aesthetic. Perhaps it's just the natural point a lot of labels release when their original ideas aren't fruitful or exciting anymore and you end up paying attention only to one or two artists on there...

Haven't heard the Damero album in full yet either (fear disappointment tbh).

Still pleased by this though!

Looks possibly a little less adventurous than their (superfun!) Boomkat mix, perhaps more like weiss.mix 2? Shouldn't really speculate without hearing it mixed.

ha! I was gonna say is the vocal on that Tomas Andersson track trying to be the next "from disco to disco"? I did not realise http://www.discogs.com/artist/Whirlpool+Productions had Justus Köhncke amongst their members!

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 12:57 (seventeen years ago) link

not entirely enthused by that track listing either to be honest! (get radiohead away from my lovely bpitch.)

i dunno, i kind of liked modeselektor as a one-off gimmick on the roster but there's a LOT of cut-up beats and glitchy sounds on camping 3, and the straight-ahead techno which remains seems to lack a little something something. the feadz track is actually one of the better ones! ellen & apparat's contribution is supreme obv. that 'bln' opener is the best fun in the world for exactly three listens.

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 12:59 (seventeen years ago) link

There's a lot of stuff about their sound (all ends of it) I'd never expect you to like anyway really! Feadz's tracks are always good :O

I like the Sashca Funke track a lot (I think so, haven't heard that in full either but the loop engages my pleasure centres) I'll have to hear the rest properly. Also glad Sylvie Marks not completely AWOL.

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:25 (seventeen years ago) link

oh yeah i like the sylvie marks. do you still like feadz with uffie?!

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:26 (seventeen years ago) link

keep Uffie away from my lovely bpitch!

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:32 (seventeen years ago) link

jahcoozi = uffie meets m.i.a!

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:37 (seventeen years ago) link

I was always closer to tolerating, wondering if it could go somewhere else interesting later (and that vocoder was fun) than rilly rilly liking it :P seems like one trick can I have a pony daddy? so far...

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:38 (seventeen years ago) link

jahcoozi = m.i.a. without a stick up her arse, vocal prescence and unconcerned with mercury awards :P :P

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:39 (seventeen years ago) link

uffie is unconcerned with awards too! which is just as well really.

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:42 (seventeen years ago) link

(I don't actually like them that much really, thought I might for a second though. Sasha Perera is ridiculously hott though... I think it clouded my judgement!)

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:43 (seventeen years ago) link

Peaches, Jahcoozi > Mia, Uffie

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:44 (seventeen years ago) link

that got messed up grr

I don't hear much Uffie in them sorry, you hear 'electro' in everything lex! And I'm a M.I.A. hater sorry...

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:46 (seventeen years ago) link

this is the only jahcoozi track i've heard and it's EXACTLY the same sort of thing as 'ready to uff'.

peaches is by FAR the worst of the lot. except for uffie, but at least uffie's one good song was last year as opposed to...over half a decade ago.

lexpretend (lexpretend), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:47 (seventeen years ago) link

ah... they (Jahcoozi) do have a lot more ideas, lyrically (and sometimes musically) do cover similar territory to Ms. Arulpragasm, their tunes are sort of duller though :/

and Peaches fucking ROCKS :-D

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:51 (seventeen years ago) link

I can hear where you're coming from if "BLN" is the only point of comparison though, fair enough...

da mystery of sandboxin' (fandango), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:52 (seventeen years ago) link

I find SP's lyrics incredibly glib and irritating.

Nedpoleon (nedpoleon), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 14:10 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't find them any worse (maybe a little braver) than M.I.A.s but that's kind of a backhanded compliment.
