aminu will need to be the 6th man because they dont really have one

mayor jingleberriez, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:45 (twelve years ago) link

oh for christs sakes just when this was shaping up to be a good day

cad, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:47 (twelve years ago) link

i'm already bored by chris paul as a laker. he needs to leave LA, to shake off the doldrums and rejuvenate his career.

next free-agent signing please!

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:48 (twelve years ago) link

so, if the lakers DON'T get howard, this is a pretty massive risk. they're gonna go into the season, at least at the moment, with one big man who has had a myriad of knee injuries his entire career. oh btw, did we mention that we're trying to cram 66 games into four and a half months and that's not even including the playoffs?

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:49 (twelve years ago) link

yep.

Russ Bengtson @russbengtson -- Sounds like the NBA is using their amnesty on the Hornets.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:50 (twelve years ago) link

if the lakers do get howard, the only way they could lose would be for kobe to submarine the team

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:50 (twelve years ago) link

which, you know, *fingers crossed*

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:51 (twelve years ago) link

so you think howard on LA puts them far over miami?

just seems like both teams have odd chemistry and roster issues.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:51 (twelve years ago) link

howard -- (who are their forwards?) -- kobe -- paul.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:52 (twelve years ago) link

i would be scared of a team where dwight howard was the third best option on offense, yes

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:52 (twelve years ago) link

i don't disagree. but constructing their team that way leaves them with gaping holes at two starting spots, just like the issue miami faces.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:53 (twelve years ago) link

paul
kobe
world peace
*somebody*
howard

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:53 (twelve years ago) link

WORLD F'N PEACE people!

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:53 (twelve years ago) link

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

yeah, very very good, but just like miami's construction (with players at different spots, obv).

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:54 (twelve years ago) link

the lakers are abandoning the triangle right?

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:54 (twelve years ago) link

well right but "players at different spots" is a big thing cuz the lakers three would all be playing traditional roles

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:55 (twelve years ago) link

waht it's nothing like miami's construction!

cad, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:55 (twelve years ago) link

it is, in terms of how a team spends its money.

Daniel, Esq., Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:55 (twelve years ago) link

i mean certainly the heat could win but paul and howard getting split up would be much, much better for them

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:55 (twelve years ago) link

yeah but this isn't really the point

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:56 (twelve years ago) link

shannon brown signed with the suns? tmac is a hawk? this is so great and random

concussion section, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:57 (twelve years ago) link

Based on their coaching hire I assume the Lakers are abandoning an offense all together. Just pick and roll, pick and roll, isolation, pick and pop, pick and roll, isolation.

EZ Snappin, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:57 (twelve years ago) link

u fools are forgetting that mike brown is coaching this team, which means Kobe is coaching this team which means implosion time is imminent

q: are we not bel biv men? a: we are bel biv devo (m bison), Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:58 (twelve years ago) link

yeah... still interested in the dynamics of kobe playing w/ a PG as good as paul

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:58 (twelve years ago) link

kobe + paul have, like, one or one and a half good knees b/w them

v-shasty, Thursday, 8 December 2011 23:59 (twelve years ago) link

feel like wo d12 this is a lateral move bc their inside presence was just stacked and now it's depleted

lakers havent had a legit point guard since... fuck I dont even know (nor do I pay attention enough)

mayor jingleberriez, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:01 (twelve years ago) link

i sort of feel the same way xp

it's too bad that melo & cp3 are good friends, cuz they need to never play together -- on the other hand paul + amare playing together would be like a 2.5 hour orgasm

v-shasty, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:01 (twelve years ago) link

why is that?

mike brown how do u feel about these moves

mayor jingleberriez, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:03 (twelve years ago) link

meanwhile chauncey billups is still IRATE

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 00:03 (twelve years ago) link

Last legit Laker PG was Magic. Unless you're a huge fan of Nick Van Exel.

EZ Snappin, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:04 (twelve years ago) link

forgot about smush parker

mayor jingleberriez, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:06 (twelve years ago) link

are kobe and chris paul friends?

kinda feel like they'd hate each other.

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 00:09 (twelve years ago) link

OMG JUST GOT OUT OF T GYM AND SAW THIS!!!

Carnitas, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:12 (twelve years ago) link

so wait I forgot what was the lockout about, cuz I didn't know it was about building more super teams in huge cities while cannibalizing the small markets

~occubarn~ (clay), Friday, 9 December 2011 00:16 (twelve years ago) link

yeah that was the owners whole endgame where you been?

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 00:19 (twelve years ago) link

@ChrisMannixSI: Heat in a tough spot financially but sources say the team is hoping that if amnestied Billups will push to play in Miami

WHOOP WHOOP

Daniel, Esq., Friday, 9 December 2011 00:21 (twelve years ago) link

other hopes: howard will demand to play for miami at the vet minimum.

well kobe hates everyone and everyone hates kobe, so probably

v-shasty, Friday, 9 December 2011 00:46 (twelve years ago) link

I thought the whole reason why the lakers were so good was the triple threat they had in odum, bynum, gasol - the idea that they're gonna give up all that so they can go small with CP3 and KB8 is pretty lol

The Love Song of L. Alfred Sotosyn (dayo), Friday, 9 December 2011 00:52 (twelve years ago) link

This would be so great for the Lakers if their coach wasn't horrible.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:05 (twelve years ago) link

let's not undersell the knicks spending 14m a year on a center whose toe makes his contract uninsurable.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:07 (twelve years ago) link

his toe?

v-shasty, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:09 (twelve years ago) link

my take on the lakers deal:

houston- why? Why load up on Pau now? Morey has done a great job of assembling young talent and picks and he cashes in on Pau?

Lakers- only really like it if they get D-Ho. Then it's obviously a mega coup.

Hornets- The winners of the trade in my book. Martin, Scola, Odom and a first rounder for a point guard who by all accounts will need microfracture surgery in the next 3 years? It's not quite as good as the Carmelo deal but it's damn close.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:11 (twelve years ago) link

his toe?

― v-shasty, Thursday, December 8, 2011 7:09 PM (1 minute ago) Bookmark Permalink

remember the trade to OKC? It got rescinded because the OKC doctors wouldn't sign off on Chandler's toe. as a result his contract is probably uninsurable.

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:12 (twelve years ago) link

Amare's deal is also uninsurable. Great franchise plan they've got up there!

Matt Armstrong, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:14 (twelve years ago) link

If Howard goes to LA along with CP3, I'm going to mail Mitch Kupchak some powdered anthrax. Or else just get really depressed. Or both.
