i didn't realize saying "TJ's" was so repulsive :-/

The only one I ever hate for saying it is...myself.
I got deja vu typing this!

when you say your whole foods sells booze - do you mean hard liquor or just beer and wine? Mine only sells beer and wine.

i had a bottle of this Trader Joes Dark Mexican beer last night and it tasted like lighter fluid

moonbop, Tuesday, 13 December 2011 04:10 (twelve years ago) link

or something... it was not what a beer is supposed to be like

Trader Joe's eggnog cookies–no. I really disliked them, so I gave them to a friend to try. She tried one, made a face, and agreed to throw them out.

my dark chocolate sea salt caramels in the red box are nowhere to be found in that mess of xmas cookie/candy

also yesterday my cashier asked me 2x consecutively if i had "survived my monday" and both times i responded "i guess i'm still here..." and then on the way out he told me to be more positive about my future. !?!?

Since no one in my family lives within thousands of miles of one of these places, it just occurred to me to buy them all 3 kinds of candy/cookies/spiced nuts as stocking stuffers. I'm gonna be the most popular person there.

Chile mango Popsicles. Eat them.

Jeff, Wednesday, 14 December 2011 20:29 (twelve years ago) link

i was surprised how spicy those were

n/a, Wednesday, 14 December 2011 21:10 (twelve years ago) link

though maybe they vary in spiciness from batch to batch like their salsas do

n/a, Wednesday, 14 December 2011 21:10 (twelve years ago) link

my bag of chile mango slices is still sitting in the cupboard, uneaten

tumblr whine-y (dayo), Wednesday, 14 December 2011 21:16 (twelve years ago) link

I like those too but the Popsicles are better.

Jeff, Wednesday, 14 December 2011 21:29 (twelve years ago) link

the popsicles sound amazing.

Christmas wreath cookies are pretty great. I just ate a whole box, which was thankfully small.

julia, Wednesday, 14 December 2011 21:53 (twelve years ago) link

I bought a box of the chocolate covered Joe Joes holiday assortment cookies for a potluck last night and they were pretty amazing.

the bolivian is my favorite coffee, but the price keeps inching up :(

tehresa, Thursday, 15 December 2011 01:11 (twelve years ago) link

i think i'm going to rely on this thread for its cookie recommendations: have had the wreath cookies and holiday assortment and both were delicious

The vanilla cinnamon black tea (aka lemur tea) is no longer on the shelves and the sign is gone. If only I had Mormon-food hoarded, per Abbott's inclination.

sometimes they just take the sign down til they can restock

tehresa, Friday, 23 December 2011 20:37 (twelve years ago) link

My god, I hope you're right, tehresa.

(of omar) (son), Friday, 23 December 2011 22:22 (twelve years ago) link

of?

anyway, the chicken and veggie wonton soup bowl is great. new, i think? love the vegan pad thai w/cashews instead of peanuts.

omar (son), Friday, 23 December 2011 22:24 (twelve years ago) link

haha - i have taken note of the crab rangoon everytime i go - i have avoided buying it because i feared it would have a highly addictive quality.

sarahel, Friday, 23 December 2011 22:29 (twelve years ago) link

Can someone make a map of the US showing the parts where crab rangoon is a thing?

illegal crew member (C.K. Dexter Holland), Friday, 23 December 2011 22:33 (twelve years ago) link

i've only ever had it at tiki bars

sarahel, Saturday, 24 December 2011 01:36 (twelve years ago) link

they were available at all the fast food chinese places in boston -- it wasn't till i lived elsewhere that i realized, sadly, they were a regional thing

rayuela, Saturday, 24 December 2011 01:41 (twelve years ago) link

crab rangoon is available elsewhere but it's horrid ime, compared to boston. kinda like trying to find good clam chowder outside new england.

i want to try the tjs stuff anyway.

julia, Saturday, 24 December 2011 02:39 (twelve years ago) link

i hope you're all happy because i bought them when i went to tj's last night as they were a $1 off 'flyer item.' now i feel guilty. wonder how long they will stay in the freezer before i break down. i somehow justified by buying some prosecco to go with?

tehresa, Saturday, 24 December 2011 15:16 (twelve years ago) link

^^^ this seems entirely reasonable to me, tza
