Use your imagination to arrange it into the triptych.

I moved in to a new apartmen a couple of months ago, and at the moment I have nothing on the walls. In the previous one I had two movie posters, for Totoro and Innocence (the French movie about the mystrious girl school). The current one has much more wall space though, so I guess I should come up with more and/or larger posters.

Tuomas, Thursday, 8 December 2011 15:13 (twelve years ago) link

Maybe I should get posters that feature other than children, so someone doesn't think I'm a perv? :)

Tuomas, Thursday, 8 December 2011 15:17 (twelve years ago) link

nothing & i don't recall wishing otherwise

Living in temporary lodgings whilst house shopping, so most of my wall art is at a storage facility. They include things like:

A promo poster for last years Otto Dix exhibition

http://www.mmfa.qc.ca/ottodix/images/en/menu/vera.gif

A Soviet cigarette advertisement:

http://i40.tinypic.com/qmxto1.jpg

A couple 4AD posters:

http://i40.tinypic.com/2iu4751.jpghttp://i41.tinypic.com/2w2liiv.jpg

I miss them, but not as much as the books.

I do have some South Pacific wood carvings flanking my desk at present (too fragile for boxing), a Balinese barong (protective spirit) mask, and a sea tortoise with a folk tale (the Breadfruit tree) from Palau.

This is a framed kite on the bedroom wall. My husband's aunt gave the kite to him as a kid
http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp201/sharonjoy666/346bd81a.jpg

Shepherd Fairey poster from the 06 X / Rollins Band show at the Warfield. One of my favorite posters. We have quite a few framed rock posters in the living area.
http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp201/sharonjoy666/4ac02419.jpg

Hard to make out as a photo but this is a citation "for most efficient action & presence of mind" given to Mr Veg's grandfather, a machinist at the Pearl Harbour Naval Yard, present at the time of the bombing in 1941. Hung in the kitchen entrance.
http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp201/sharonjoy666/23e9126f.jpg

Signed (!) You Am I poster that my best friend back home in Australia surprised me with last Christmas. She went to the show & had the band sign it & everything <3
http://i412.photobucket.com/albums/pp201/sharonjoy666/7cd73746.jpg

Darkness on the Edge of Town framed album cover in the study because HOW GREAT. One of 3: the other 2 are Hwy 61 Revisted & Meet The Beatles, I love the covers so much.

Six Sigma certification. They sent me the wrong one, so I crossed out green belt and corrected it to yellow.

Jeff, Thursday, 8 December 2011 18:01 (twelve years ago) link

xp league: they're tourist trinkets, really. The barong mask was found in the central market in Ubud, Bali (yes, its where Eat, Pray, Love was later filmed) for about $35. The tortoise with its breadfruit tree story was carved in the unfenced prison at Melekeok, Palau, which has a gift shop which evidently supports the prisoners.

Sanpaku, Thursday, 8 December 2011 18:13 (twelve years ago) link

Not a gift shop in the usual sense really. Practically an unused cell with these carvings stacked against the walls. Both broke in transit home, but glue and patience won in the end.

Sanpaku, Thursday, 8 December 2011 18:15 (twelve years ago) link

1 - a bunch of postcards of Glasgow and Edinburgh
2 - this (well as close as I could find anyway) resistor colour code chart
http://www.southgatearc.org/images/maplin/ResChart.gif
3 - someone's mobile # on a small piece of paper
4 - table of capacitor values/codes

and not actually on a wall but would be if I had a frame for it

5 - a photo of a pile of wrecked cars in a junk yard, with the caption "ANOTHER HOUR? ANOTHER DRINK? ANOTHER DEATH" over the top in Letraset, made by the graphic design student who rented a room in a house where I was living while at university.

Ohhh goodie! I had the *exact* same thread-idea the day ilx died. Here's mine:

1. Bas Jan Ader, "I'm Too Sad To Tell You" (framed print)

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu216/le_bateau_ivre/toosad.jpg

2. Framed, limited poster of Arthur Rimbaud, bought in his hometown Charleville-Mézières, apparently so limited I can't find an image online. It's this portrait, but with 'Le Bateau Ivre' in his handwriting in the background:

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu216/le_bateau_ivre/rimbaud1.jpg

3. Mark Rothko, 'Orange and Yellow', framed poster

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu216/le_bateau_ivre/untitled-orange-and-yellow-c-1956.jpg

4. Jack Kerouac, 'On The Road' book cover poster, hueg and framed

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu216/le_bateau_ivre/otrpanm3929ni.jpg

5. Framed Cornwall Railway poster, image is smalled than the poster obv

6. Portrait of m'love

OK, you guys have the best stuff

Sandbox James Morrison, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:06 (twelve years ago) link

1. A hideous Bob Rosstrossity that I bought at a junk store in St. Louis. The more I look at it the more terrible it gets, but we needed something large for over the couch and the colors were right and it's pretty hilarious.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7170/6479553797_deedf23689.jpg

2. Three post cards of animals dress in Victorian clothing that I bought from someone on Etsy and framed myself (I have three other critters so I can switch these out one day). These are on the living room wall to the left of the Rosstrossity as you're facing it.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7020/6479552807_e157090a73.jpg

3. Wedding gift from an artist friend of ours. It's hard to tell, but it's a map of Chicago with two birds. <3

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7158/6479551841_b4d04d3902.jpg

4. Godzilla poster in Polish (mod podged it onto a canvas and painted the border and then took a really blurry picture to post on ILX, sorry) that hangs in the kitchen,

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7034/6479552081_996c2711a5.jpg

5. Much beloved Carrie poster in Turkish that Jesse gave me for my birthday in 2004. Technically not on the wall at this time but usually hangs over the desk where my sewing machine goes.

http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7159/6479551689_5ff21845c4.jpg

thejenny, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:30 (twelve years ago) link

It's hard to tell from the pic but that Carrie poster is huge. It used to hang in the living room of our old apartment, which was next to a grocery store. When the lighting was right, if you stood in the parking lot of the grocery store and looked up into our window, that poster is what you would see. It was awesome.

thejenny, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:33 (twelve years ago) link

i love that godzilla poster,

god, i love that zilla poster

poster, i love that godzilla

Z S, Friday, 9 December 2011 01:44 (twelve years ago) link

One of the things I love about the Carrie poster is the mis-match of the stars names to the pictures. LIke SISSY SPACEK as A FLAMING CAR. JOHN TRAVOLTA as PIPER LAURIE. PIPER LAURIE as THE GYM IS ON FIRE.

1. Nautical maps of the pennisula in Upper Michigan where I grew up - left one is a broad overview, right one is closeup of the canal/lake running through the middle

http://i.imgur.com/WSSe0.jpg

2. Painting on wood with some cutout stuff from an artist from my hometown, titled "A Bear in the Yard". The DNR truck is the cage contraption that the Dept. of Natural Resources uses to trap and move problem bears:

http://i.imgur.com/IERVa.jpg

3. Stamped metal elevator certification that I, uh, "acquired" from long since demolished parking garage in Detroit where I used to park at my first job, plus some random Russian propaganda poster of a newspaper sandwich. I have no idea what it says:

http://i.imgur.com/jXzFi.jpg

4. Screenprinted poster from a Sonic Youth show I went to. They had different artists do a poster for every show on the tour and mine happened to be done by this guy whose stuff I've always kind of dug:

http://i.imgur.com/nLNh8.jpg

5. A lithograph I made a couple of years ago, made up of letters and other characters:

2. Archie Bell and the Drells, in a floating frame.

The two bigger ones I bought at a chain craft store in NC in the early 00s, like a Michael's or a Hobby Lobby or something. They were white and I painted them with cast iron-effect craft paint. The other one I bought at TJ Maxxxxxx/Marshall's/one of those places.
