Jon, Yoshida from Ruins has a good new record out with the former guitarist of a band called Tipographica, which was around in the 90s, and played kind of a Zappa-ish avant-prog. (also, there is a new Korekyojinn out)

Dominique (dleone), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 17:07 (seventeen years ago) link

oh, and also there is the 2nd set of the Magma concert "Epok" DVDs out now, with guests Jannik Top and Klaus Blasquiz

cheater slicks - refried dreams LP. it'd been a while since i'd listened to this, i forgot how bleak it is. in this town, i think i'm coming down, dejected soul, last call... remind me to hide this album when i'm on a self-destructive streak.

IS ANY OF IT WORTH GETTING

jw (ex machina), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 17:29 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm not a huge Bondage Fruit fan. They were good, but seemed a step behind Koenjihyakkei, who is probably the band they sound the most like. I have all of Korekyojinn's records -- no vox, instrumental power trio prog and improv, kind of like if Rush didn't sing and only played really complicated, relatively short songs. actually, the guitar sounds totally different than Rush, so that's not the greatest comparison...

i know you're kidding, but i liked her last album. just relistened this one it and the pharrel tracks are pretty alright (especially the fake Milkshake of Yummy and the thick Juicy J sounding Breakin' Up). Wind It Up is probably the most annoying song i've heard in ages

strangely enough, i was compelled to grab a couple sun city girls records to listen to today..then i get here and read the bad news..

on the train: marissa nadler: saga of the mayflower may...im not so sure about the female "folk" singers...sometimes its a touch to ophilia-esque....and i have no ophiliaphilia when it comes to it. at the same time, i kind of enjoy it for the music it is...
