Re Mark McGuire, Is it a comp, wasn't aware of that. If so replace with:
Luke Haines - 9 1/2 Psychedelic Meditations on British Wrestling of the Early 1970s and 1980s. (Album)
― Billy Dods, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:40 (twelve years ago) link
The McGuire *is* a comp, but if you look at what's on it, it's all stuff that was "from the 2008 CDR blah blah blah - limited to 75 copies". It's stuff that was previously available to only a tiny handful of people and on a shonky format too, so effectively this is its first proper release.

― Number None, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:56 (twelve years ago) link
Yes, in keeping with our case by case position on comps, the McGuire is in for sure if that's the case.
― Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:56 (twelve years ago) link
Hmm, fair enough...I probably won't vote for it because it's not a "2011 album" for me but I'm fine with letting others decide for themselves.

these are the frustrating weeks for me - itching to nominate but forcing myself to hold off so i get to nominate ~lost gems~ after lovely fellow posters have dealt with my obvious favs
― lex pretend, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 1:31 PM (Yesterday) Bookmark Permalink
This. But seriously, a day in and 75% of my potential votes in any universe have already been dealt with, from CREEP/Nina Sky, to Dawn Richards, to Machine Drum to Patrick to Los Camp! to LoveLove v HateLove.
So now...even if I wanted to nominate right away, I think I'll have to spend time figuring out what lost gems to pick, since the obvious stuff has been mostly covered.

yes, rev
I haven't been tracking albums, but we're at well over 200 tracks already.
Sorry. Formerly Alex in Montreal, which was due for retirement. Especially since there was an all-lowercase "alex in montreal" who got confused and annoyed when I first joined ILX four years ago or whatever.

Yeah it's great!
That and (curiously) the Wild Beasts album were my two big ILM-assisted discoveries in the interregnum between ILX and Sandbox.
