Also if anyone wants to rep for 'Night Sky' by Gavin Russom that would be lovely.

^ too good to be buried at the bottom of the playlist imo

Argh, I forgot 'Ostalgia' as well.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 10:32 (twelve years ago) link

if no one's nominated the album by the time i get round to mine i'll assuredly nominate it

lex pretend, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 10:37 (twelve years ago) link

Don't even like the album that much or ever want to listen to it all the way through but its best moments are wonderful.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 10:39 (twelve years ago) link

yeah ostalgia and wasting time i quite like too... but i would be tempted to put the album in the lower echelons of my poll.

dog latin, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 10:41 (twelve years ago) link

Things like archival various artist comps should always be allowed, because the end result of grouping all those tracks together is a "new" creation.

Okay, then I'd like to nominate this one:

Various Artists (compiled by Ben Liebrand) - Grand 12-Inches 8

Technically all of the stuff on the comp is old, but several of the 12" mixes on it have never before been available on CD, and it does have four new extended edits by Ben Liebrand that are exclusive to this comp.

It's certainly my most played album of 2011.

Tuomas, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 10:43 (twelve years ago) link

Sorry, here's the proper nomination format:

i thought this was 2010?

lex pretend, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 13:17 (twelve years ago) link

Hmm, looks like there was a ltd vinyl version released on 22 December 2010, and then an obviously more freely available digital version was released in 2011 with a different running order. Would argue for it to be kept in.

los krampusinos! (pomplamau5), Wednesday, 7 December 2011 13:26 (twelve years ago) link

xp to popppa abt Bill Orcutt: yeah that's probably right. I'm lucky I didn't call him 'Phil' tbh. Would you be willing to change that on the spreadsheet JF? Pretty please?

how come no one told me about this! it's amazing

I told you about it in the pub about a month ago although there's no reason you'd remember that conversation.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:40 (twelve years ago) link

Re Mark McGuire, Is it a comp, wasn't aware of that. If so replace with:

Luke Haines - 9 1/2 Psychedelic Meditations on British Wrestling of the Early 1970s and 1980s. (Album)

Billy Dods, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:40 (twelve years ago) link

The McGuire *is* a comp, but if you look at what's on it, it's all stuff that was "from the 2008 CDR blah blah blah - limited to 75 copies". It's stuff that was previously available to only a tiny handful of people and on a shonky format too, so effectively this is its first proper release.

los krampusinos! (pomplamau5), Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:55 (twelve years ago) link

troo

Number None, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:56 (twelve years ago) link

Yes, in keeping with our case by case position on comps, the McGuire is in for sure if that's the case.

Johnny Fever, Wednesday, 7 December 2011 16:56 (twelve years ago) link

Hmm, fair enough...I probably won't vote for it because it's not a "2011 album" for me but I'm fine with letting others decide for themselves.

END BRONY CAPITALISM (sean doily), Wednesday, 7 December 2011 17:02 (twelve years ago) link
