I am about 16 episodes behind and have not read this thread but has anyone ever come up with a drinking game for LOST?

I'm thinking one of the challenges would be three drinks for every time someone trips while chasing someone/something in the forest.

Steve Shasta (Steve Shasta), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 21:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Dude there are so many drinking games for LOST, I've lost count (because i'm DRUKN).

- everytime Sawyer zings/gives a nickname/reads a book/looks at Kate with goo-ey eyes
- JACK FACE!
- someone trips in the forest
- TEH NUMBERS
- Flashback (if you can anticipate a flashback ie if someone's expression lingers on the camera, and there's that wooshing noise, shout "FLASHBACK!" and take two drinks)
- episode opens with someone's eye opening
- Hurley sez "Dude".

etc.

Grey's Anatomy: genuinely don't care. Boring show, pretty people, it's no ER (which, as I've said before, I think I'm the only person still watching after all these years).

Heroes: I just can't get behind it. I try to like it, I really do, but the acting is so BAD and the woman thing annoys me, and I think maybe Lost is my one and only stupid-supernatural-things-happening show.

Lost: I think it's a mark of how this once great show has drifted that even here, on the Lost thread, we are talking about other shows. sigh.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 08:55 (seventeen years ago) link

but Lost is still good, i think, in spite of everything. at least we can take the piss out of it if nothing else. the talk of other shows has been pissing me off a bit even tho i played my part.

resumo impetus (blueski), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 10:30 (seventeen years ago) link

would anyone mind if i changed all the lyrics to the song 'Turtle Power' so they were about Lost-related stuff instead?

To be fair, all Lost needs to do is focus on the group a bit more rather than what's happening on the periphery. Bit too early for accusations of shark jumping just yet, especially given how awesome the last episode was.

i love the way that lost fans are riled by the heroes chat. i count myself a fan BTW, and chances are i'd like heroes if i got round to watching it - the writers are all best mates or summink.

what woman thing?

this is cutty (mcutt), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 12:55 (seventeen years ago) link

Heroes is better than Lost. I can fall asleep during Lost and still not miss anything. You can watch all of the Heroes episodes on the NBC website w/o having to download. I didn't watch it for awhile because everyone who told me it was amazing was an asshole.

Carey (Carey), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:07 (seventeen years ago) link

I sometimes feel they could stick an episode of Amazing Stories on and I would think it was someone's flashback.

Carey (Carey), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 13:15 (seventeen years ago) link

you can watch LOST on the ABC website.

METAL ROBOTIC HEAD FACE (scarymonster), Wednesday, 21 February 2007 17:53 (seventeen years ago) link

what woman thing?

The fact that the women are comic-book cliche women, like strippers or cheerleaders and they get to be sexually victimized. Although someone did point out upthread that it's getting better. I don't know, I gave up after episode 10, when they actually appeared to save the cheerleader, although maybe they didn't. I had lost all interest at that stage.

accentmonkey (accentmonkey), Thursday, 22 February 2007 00:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Women be getting deaded a bit more than men, I think.

lousy flashback in tonight's episode. sawyer letting the kid go == dumbest thing he's done yet

The fact that the women are comic-book cliche women, like strippers or cheerleaders and they get to be sexually victimized.

This was my EXACT beef with Heroes and why I gave up after about three episodes.

yes. The swelling strings staring into the sky thing at the end was aggravating.

bai ling and jack w/ the kite and the swelling strings = all time worst moment on entire series

sawyer and kid on log w/ swelling strings = close second

only worthwile two minutes = we know tailies are alive and well

Did I miss something? What secret was revealed about the island?

uh, none

only worthwile two minutes = we know tailies are alive and well

unless you count that as a revelation and "we are here to watch" as a satisfying explanation! guh?

(I guess they were supposed to witness Juliet's execution?)

I hated this episode

although I liked when sawyer punched carl and told him to cowboy up (possibly Boston Red Sox reference #2435)

dmr (dmr), Thursday, 22 February 2007 15:15 (seventeen years ago) link

cowboy up was a term in use long before that steroid laden fat-ass millar made it their rallying cry.

i hated this episode, but i feel like seeing 20 tailies alive and well is a pretty big jaw-dropper. those two kids had a teddy-bear, too.

nicka's probably over on nu-ILX pointing out thirty other things that we missed.

My favorite post on thefuselage.com today (a forum I don't have to re-login onto every fourth post or whatever):

Did you notice that her "mark" looked VERY much like the blacklight hatch map that Locke saw??

I LOVE YOU, LOST FANDS.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 22 February 2007 18:40 (seventeen years ago) link

I personally noted: remember when Jin & Eko saw "Others" walking through the jungle, barefoot and hauling a teddy bear? The tail-section children were wearing shoes, and the teddy bear was in decent shape (as opposed to jungle-Others' teddy bear, mangled and missing a leg). There are still more other Others.

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I hope that's not the last we see of Cindy, I like her.

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

Also: fuck Bai Ling. I don't mean like "woohoo bonerz", I mean fuck her, I hate her.

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

Anyway, the title (Stranger In A Strange Land) implies that Jack is going to become some kind of spiritual revolutionery among the Others and inspire crazy Martian cult orgies, which I am 1,000% in support of.

Lingbert (Lingbert), Thursday, 22 February 2007 19:58 (seventeen years ago) link

oh yeah, so, how useful is marking someone where they marked juliet? do all others functions require lifting up your shirttail before being allowed admittance?

GAWD PVNCH (yournullfame), Thursday, 22 February 2007 20:55 (seventeen years ago) link

The Others' purpose on the island is to film a sequel to The Wedding Crashers.

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 22 February 2007 20:59 (seventeen years ago) link

ha ha. you can imagine how that could really change a person.

resumo impetus (blueski), Thursday, 22 February 2007 23:54 (seventeen years ago) link

that was the gayest episode ever.

Carey (Carey), Friday, 23 February 2007 03:16 (seventeen years ago) link

remember when they talked about how there would be a big shift in one character's attitude/outlook midway thru this series? i guess they mean Jack may start feeling more sympathetic to the Others now they're moving him to the village, probably all building up to some 'kill them or us' dilemma. tho he's resisted well so far.

had Jack actually met Alex before this episode?

resumo impetus (blueski), Friday, 23 February 2007 09:59 (seventeen years ago) link

No, and in fact I don't think he's ever been around to hear Rousseau say her stolen baby's name was Alex, either.

Kate should know who exactly Alex is though, after her adventure with Claire and Rousseau @ the medical hatch.
