Kids wanting snacks mean naps are painfully short. But I will try again.

John - you dyed your hair white blonde?! NO, I did not see that. (Please tell me you have a photo, preferably with dark roots showing, sort of as if you were some really screwed up version of Madonna.)

Margaritas YUM. WANT. Instead all I have is a bunch of cookies and fudge that I made... too much. Neighbors are getting treats tonight.

Stay warm Sam! (Er, and everyone else, of course.)

I think I've seen a picture of Blonde John. IIRC, you looked kind of dead.

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 22:04 (seventeen years ago) link

enjoy your nap!

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 22:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Blonde John, looking dead. LOL.

I'm reconsidering the nap, now that Blonde Zombie high school friends have been conjured in my imagination. I live in front of a cemetery, remember.

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Wednesday, 20 December 2006 22:09 (seventeen years ago) link

I took the nap yesterday and no blonde zombies bothered me. I'm going back to lie down again this morning because it is freaking cold, miserable and dark out.

Drive carefully if you're around the T.C. area this morning guys. Yikes.

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Blonde Zombie high school friends

???

Is it snowing there? It was cold here when I woke up and I wore a sweatshirt to work. But I was sweating by the time I made it to my office.

last day of "work" for the year, woo-hoo!

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:08 (seventeen years ago) link

Sorry, the notion of John with white blonde hair, looking "dead" was apparently too much for my imagination. (Plus I can't imagine that he dyed his eyebrows to match. Yikes.)

No snow - just really REALLY cold rain. The temperature is hovering right around the freezing point, I think, so the roads could get slippery. Nasty.

But yay for the last work day of the year for you!!!! A. has to go in next week Wed.-Friday, but it will be scary quiet with all the students and most of the faculty and staff gone. I almost envy that.

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:12 (seventeen years ago) link

what does your husband do? I feel I should know this yet I don't.

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:14 (seventeen years ago) link

He works in the administrative computer center of a private college. I think the main thing he does is troubleshoot people's computer problems; he's insanely good at fixing them. At any rate, he seems to enjoy it, it pays okay, the benefits are fantastic, and we have a ready source of potential babysitters in his student workers. All v. good!

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:26 (seventeen years ago) link

What do you do, Sam? (that you won't have to do again after today until 2007!!!!)

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:28 (seventeen years ago) link

The last time there was a TC ice storm I was in hospital in London and my mom slipped and broke her ankle on the way to the car two hours before she was supposed to go to the airport. My sister: "I've got some good news, and some bad news..."

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:35 (seventeen years ago) link

I also work in computers at a (large, public) university. Web development for a million and one divisions/departments on campus. I love working here.

there should be an ilx union of university workers.

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Thursday, 21 December 2006 16:37 (seventeen years ago) link

suzy... lolz.

The ice storm I remember best was the nice of the final test of my first semester at St. Kate's (library school) - in 1995 this was. Scariest drive home to Northfield ever.

Working in academia = pretty awesome, unless the college you're working at has financial troubles (I did that once; it sucked). ILX union... I'd like to see the meetings for that organization.

Freezing rain: the best of all Christmas traveling weather!

Dan I. (w1nt3rmut3), Thursday, 21 December 2006 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

It's turned into big, fat Rankin/Bass Xmas Special style SNOWBLOBS. Pwetty!

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 21 December 2006 19:36 (seventeen years ago) link

It has stopped raining in Northfield for the moment. Just after they sent the kids home from school 2 hours early, too!

I want SNOWBLOBS, too!!!!

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 19:45 (seventeen years ago) link

I have to go replace a headlight in this stuff.

I'd forgotten how pretty snow is though.

Dan I. (w1nt3rmut3), Thursday, 21 December 2006 19:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Why are you taunting me with your pretty snows?

(But good luck with the headlight - it's cold out there.)

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 19:54 (seventeen years ago) link

This pretty snow sucks balls.

I hate driving.

SNOW UPDATE: still flakes, but if it could speak it would be shrieking like Margaret Rutherford in The Wizard of Oz.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 21 December 2006 21:02 (seventeen years ago) link

I only want the snow because I don't need to be anywhere, that is true.

Shrieking snow, now there's a thought...

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 21:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, no precipitation in Northfield continues. But it's still cold and my pillow is still calling my name.

We should be hibernating, not wrapping presents. (I loathe wrapping; I do not have the knack.)

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 21:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I'm better at wrapping than most of the sales assistants they have doing it at those desks in stores. We had to see my dad today and I wrapped two gift parcels in about five minutes. Cannot bear it when there is a raw paper edge visible on the gift or the ends are folded OVER the edge of a package. I also love that ribbon where you use the blunt edge of the scissors to make curlicues.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 21 December 2006 21:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Maybe you should offer lessons. For me, you'd have to start with, "Supplies You Need."

I'm sitting down here in my office, A. isn't home so I could be wrapping stuff for him, but no, I'm procrastinating. Because I'm terrible at it!

suzy, I need your help!

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 21:39 (seventeen years ago) link

I had to ride with my mother all day doing insane shopping.
I'd have preferred getting in 3 car accidents.
I dislike riding in other people's cars, as I have no idea when exactly the car will finish turning, stop, etc.
As such, i'm constantly on edge.

No liqour store I went to had Connnemara Whiskey.
Sad.
I refuse to drive to Big Top today.

Geza T (The GZeus), Thursday, 21 December 2006 22:55 (seventeen years ago) link

OH YEAH!
I came here to tell everyone not to fear MySpace's music stores.
It's just Snocap interlinked with MySpace.
So...just use Snocap and put a damned link in your profile.
MIDDLEMAN RETARDO.

Geza T (The GZeus), Thursday, 21 December 2006 22:56 (seventeen years ago) link

SRC, I'd have to do a Home Hints style demo and that's just ahhh-wrong!

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Thursday, 21 December 2006 23:06 (seventeen years ago) link

I am not afraid of myspace music whatever. But I have yet to figure out the last.fm thing... that is an after the holidays thing, I think.

suzy, you could be the non-robotic Martha Stewart. In a good way.

I did get inspired and wrap several things, and I helped J. wrap a present. If there's anything that makes me appreciate doing something I'm bad at by myself, it's when I have to try to herd a 4 year old through the process... Still, I fear you wouldn't approve of the job I've done, suzy.

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Thursday, 21 December 2006 23:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Heh.
here's a start: http://www.last.fm/user/TheGZeus/
Now...click things until something's cool.
Waking Up Corky has downloads, but I don't think you'd like it, unless you were looking for a laugh.

Oh, and John: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arcturus_%28band%29
not sure if you were aware of the 'Current 93' to Ulver's 'Nurse With Wound.'

ICS Vortex.... Icy S. Vortex...
Fiery G. Maelstrom...

I wrapped FB's present in two empty black label boxes.

John Justen is interested in eating your pet. (John Justen), Friday, 22 December 2006 00:37 (seventeen years ago) link

I hope it's not just a beer box full of air again. I'm not sure how many more times he's going to fall for that, John.

I will check out the last.fm thing, thanks GZeus.

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Friday, 22 December 2006 01:16 (seventeen years ago) link

I'll hand John's present to him...when I feel like it.
XMess isn't that important to me as a date, as I don't feel a need to celebrate the christian holiday or Yule.
So...I give John Gifts when I have time or they're done.
One you will like, the other you will love.

Geza T (The GZeus), Friday, 22 December 2006 01:33 (seventeen years ago) link

Yay Friday! Plus A. let me sleep in until 11 am. I love that guy.

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Friday, 22 December 2006 17:47 (seventeen years ago) link

LAST MINUTE CHRISTMAS SHOPPERS ARE FUCKING CRAZY PEOPLE.

John Justen is interested in eating your pet. (John Justen), Friday, 22 December 2006 18:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Sir, I realize you don't care that your 5 year old is banging two of our guitars together while you shop for yourself, but I'm considering tying him up in a bag and throwing him in the river.

John Justen is interested in eating your pet. (John Justen), Friday, 22 December 2006 18:22 (seventeen years ago) link

If no one has thrown any of what you carry in your store at you, it's not really the Christmas season. (And I mean the adults.)

Actually, that is part of the beauty of selling liquor. Very few kids, almost no returns, and everyone is happy when they leave.

All that being said, I wouldn't take J. into your store on a bet. Some parents are nuts.

Jealous!

This afternoon I am doing roll out cookies with FOUR kids (and, thankfully, two other adults). Maybe I should stick the bottle of vodka I bought into the freezer for emergency rations...

MERRY CHRIMBO EJB!

I think I made up a new word to describe the shit the Donald threw yesterday: man-trum.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:17 (seventeen years ago) link

HEARD ABOUT THE MAN-TRUM

LIKE THE WORD GOOD COINAGE

Floofer Barrrrrr (Fluffy Bear Hearts Rainbows), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:19 (seventeen years ago) link

I have to say that I thought it was hysterical when I thought The Donald called Rosie a "big face". Once I learned he said "pig face" I was much less amused.

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:20 (seventeen years ago) link

"Mantrum," lol.

Merry Xmas to all of you!

Hmmmm, maybe I'll come to Boston tonight, too. I haven't teleported in years... but then who would make the cookies?!

Sara Robinson-Coolidge (Sara R-C), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:21 (seventeen years ago) link

My mom haaAAAtes Rosie O'Donnell but could not be persuaded that The Donald was not adhering to classic Pathetic Male gambit of calling female adversary first bitch then ugly then virgin then whore then failure when she was obviously 100 per cent successful in mantrum provocation.

suzy artskooldisko (suzy artskooldisko), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:28 (seventeen years ago) link

okay seriously, what the hell is that (not yr post, suzy)

Jesus Dan (dan perry), Friday, 22 December 2006 19:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Dan, that is FB, obv. He's changed a bit since Sept.
