And random symptoms too--like, first, I kept losing my voice. Then, I had FIRETHROAT for 3 days, but didn't too much lose my voice. Then it was coughing, which exacerbated FIRETHROAT. But now FIRETHROAT has left the building, been replaced by SINUSMONSTER. It's like, wtf, pick one symptom and stick to it.

I was too embarrassed to put Norwood on the alumni list of the "brag about your HS" thread ;_;

He returned to Northern Virginia, where he still lives today, in South Riding, and became a realtor. He is married, and has three children, Carly, Connor, and Cory. Norwood coaches Carly's soccer team.

Oh how the other soccer teams must heckle on penalty kicks.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Friday, 16 February 2007 18:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I can't imagine a worse thing to have happen to you then going from being an NFL player in the Super Bowl to being a realtor in NoVa.

i've been resisting starting a "WHY were you born" thread for two days now

a_p (a_p), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:00 (seventeen years ago) link

why have you resisted? great idea.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:01 (seventeen years ago) link

because you'd get some fucking retarded answers to that question with some of these people.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:08 (seventeen years ago) link

i mean it's a great question, and i ask it a lot personally, but i don't care to hear some of these people opine on it, because frankly there is no good answer to that question in some cases.

so is the black cat the only decent venue in dc?

chicago kevin cleaned a lot of plates in memphis (chicago kevin), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago) link

it's like in some cases you could come up with a pretty entertaining meta answer or some kind of satirical twist on the anthropic principal but those jokes only work once and plus the people I'm thinking of who would have to resort to such flailing attempts at self-justification wouldn't be clever enough to do so and would probably just post "to test yr patience obv hur hur" thus KILLFILES

For guitar bands playing to 150-800 person crowds, Black Cat should be the #1 choice of any touring band coming through DC.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:32 (seventeen years ago) link

i'm just looking to see where bands i'd want to see might play. i just entered my leave for my trip to nyc next month and realized i still have over 5 weeks of annual leave left so i want to burn through some. rather than go somewhere i've been recently or always go (bos/nyc/mem/sd) i thought i might try somewhere new.

black lips/ponys are here in april, kevin tho i'm sure you've seen em a million times

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

yes come to DC, I will go to all of these black cats.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:35 (seventeen years ago) link

there are a bunch of venues (mostly mentioned by 69) that are good for individual shows, Black Cat definitely has the densest/most reliable schedule. Also check Galaxy Hut (ESPECIALLY this sunday) and DC9.

i can't remember the last time i was at a show with more than 300-350 people.

xpost- i'm trying to get to boston for the blips/ponys/turpentine brothers show! two of the ponys are friends of mine and my friend matt is on tour with them. they'll be back in chicago when i'm in nyc. are they playing dc on a weekend?

TOMB07 (trm), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:38 (seventeen years ago) link

A this point it's a built-in-crowd/staff/location issue, as a lineup that would draw 200 at the rock&roll hotel would draw 400 at the black cat.

I know this really has nothing to do with which venues you should check out, kevin, but I think it's interesting.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Friday, 16 February 2007 19:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey I will be back in town by March 24, you should come then!!
