Apparently Chris still has copies of the 7" for cheap, worth getting?

side 2's got some gnarly poppage. i treat my vinyl (and my needle, to be honest) like shit when i drink e_e

ian (orion), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:35 (seventeen years ago) link

sad, because side two becomes better than side one when you turn 25, ian

this is cutty (mcutt), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:46 (seventeen years ago) link

i think side 2 is better than side 1 now.
fuck u ageist.

also apparently the only bad pops are on waking the witch. the rest has sounded fine.

ian (orion), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:48 (seventeen years ago) link

that's the difference between being a record lover and a record collector ian. i wrecked one of the iggy tracks on a best of bomp compilation due to being overconfident of my abilities to change a record and drink a gin and tonic simultaneously.

evan:
this ryan adams shit is AWFUL, but still not as bad as the shiny pop-country version of "songbird" that i heard at the bookstore a few weeks ago. (being sung by a dude.)

xp
i've found out that singles are easier to change one-handed/drunk.

ian (orion), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Ian, yeah, I think the Mark Tucker single is worth getting. The a-side is on In the Sack, but there's a good long track on the b-side that isn't.

philipe leroux pistes
mv & ee green blues
jolie holland catalpa
christina carter electrice
and a bunch of joy division bootlegs which make me think "fuck almost every mention of joy division in the last ten years -- you people are just missing the obvious...and perhaps this world really just is shit...and please, please don't talk to me...and perhaps its time for the middle class to just go to their rooms and stay there"

benbaumes (bbia), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:25 (seventeen years ago) link

it's so bad, right?

apparently a version of second hand news is on the way. the mind reels.

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:54 (seventeen years ago) link

ian, it wasn't difficult to get off the platter, i did the lift with the thumb and slide my fingers to the label thing but apparently when i was putting it back in the sleeve i spilled some of that delicious tonic water/juniper booze/lime juice concoction on it. i used about half a bottle of discwasher fluid on it but there's still a skip.

too bad because side two of that comp is phenomenal.

THE DEAD C - HARSH SEVENTIES REALITY

ian (orion), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 19:18 (seventeen years ago) link

warren burt - the animations of lists and the archytan transpositions (2 CD set of compositions for microtonal tuning forks -- is good)
george cacioppo - advance of the fungi
soft machine - middle earth masters
ives - symphonies nos 1 & 4, c. andrew litton (just released SACD, totally lush, great fidelity, but they blow the rhythmic aspects, not as cosmic as the tilson thomas version)

Definitely their sweetest collection of songs since Automatic for the People. I still wonder the extent to which hataz were merely bugged off by the production.
