that only tells you that the heat aren't likely to get either of their top center choices (nene or dalembert). and oden's a restricted free-agent, anyway, so he isn't likely coming to miami.

i'm beginning to accept that we'll likely be settling for kwame brown (and maybe battier, too!, tho i'm not sure he fits our needs very well).

dude was one of the best players in the nba outright when he was healthy two years ago

granted it was like 20 games but his PER was sick

his per was good but he was also fouling out in like 20mins, obvs he could be amazing but you know lol

yeah -- i think the heat would have the ability to control his minutes a bit more (would help w/ fouling AND health) because they basically played w/o a center all of last year anyway

it prob doesn't make sense for them to get him tho cuz they need another shooter PLUS a big man that they can actually rely on. dalembert or, shit, kwame makes more sense than oden, i think. idk i'm not totally clear on how things are working now but i don't think the heat could get a battier/tayshaun type + oden + another big, and they would need insurance on oden, so

i wouldn't worry much about it. oden (understandably; admirably) has loyalty to portland for sticking with him through his injuries, and portland appears willing to match any offer the heat could make. and, of course, even if he did go to miami, there's his perpetually high risk of injury.

the heat could sign battier and brown, and that's what will likely happen.

kwame could be worse... he's a big, mobile body at least. and that's an upgrade on everyone else they were trotting out last year aside from joel
