treadmills are almost as dangerous as leaf-raking and shovelling snow for the old folks.

AFFCAP (as far from civilization as possible)

friday on the porch (lfam), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 01:43 (seventeen years ago) link

It might have been Guillain-Barre Syndrome. My dad got that after a flu shot. Got a little sick a few days later, and within half a week, he could hardly walk or lift a fork. Perfectly healthy at the time.

Which is why being AFFCAP and avoiding flu shots is really the only option.

Oh totally, I never feel like it's about the artists -- of COURSE they deserve to make money from their projects, and need money to live on in this crazy system that we use. It's more the marketing exec who comes up with the tunes that I feel ire toward...or his hipster underling? Whatever, it's all about the "cool" person working there whose job it is to spot happening things and co-opt them.

Laurel (Laurel), Wednesday, 13 December 2006 16:20 (seventeen years ago) link

i know a dude out in portland who licenses music for commercials and he always tries to help out bands he likes first. that's how the ponys wound up in a fucking all-state commercial last spring or how the tyrades wound up being broadcast coast to coast despite only having two 7"s released. not so much co-option as friends helping friends.
