you see what he did there? the joke wouldn't have worked with just a turkey with "Iraq" on it, oh no, it's only by adding the towel on its head that it really drives the hard-hitting humor home.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Monday, 27 November 2006 18:04 (seventeen years ago) link

I would say the bullet should be captioned "Syrian voting machine," but assassinating politicians in other countries doesn't make a good joke on "voting." (Is there an amusing Israeli euphemism for it?)

nabiscothingy, Monday, 27 November 2006 18:32 (seventeen years ago) link

those "day by day" cartoons are SO WIERD. who the f draws them? there's some kind of strange reverse ainsley hayes sex fantasy going on there: a tcs/nro-repeating chick with a sweet can, goth hair, and one token liberal (also hot if messy) friend? oh and her sunglass/goatee fiance and sunglass/bald black gop pals.

oh yeah, and here's some background on the Day by Day guy

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Wednesday, 29 November 2006 19:49 (seventeen years ago) link

jeez. check the ones from today if you want to see a helluva sea-change in sentiment.

mocking the president, secuirty regulations, etc. they're positively treasonous compared to how they sounded about 1 year ago.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Thursday, 30 November 2006 23:09 (seventeen years ago) link

Day By Day is way too asstacular.

These are my favorite threads BTW.

grady (grady), Thursday, 30 November 2006 23:29 (seventeen years ago) link

The worst part isn't just that it's unfunny and drawn in a way that makes my eyes want to throw up, but that it's more than a week out of date.

nate patrin (natepatrin), Thursday, 30 November 2006 23:40 (seventeen years ago) link

start here w/ Day by Day and go on. What a great comic: every day, a hot chick with a sweet bod doing a glamour pose, and talking points, too!

and remember, all imams carry sidearms.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Wednesday, 6 December 2006 21:45 (seventeen years ago) link

Gah, some of these "cartoonists" suck at drawing, i.e. that Moveon.org Stayskal one.

PPlains (PPlains), Wednesday, 6 December 2006 22:19 (seventeen years ago) link

That Asay one has type way too tiny to read, esp. the guys labels. I do like that the labels are on absurd little sandwich boards and not drawn directly onto their bellies as per.

Abbott (Abbott), Wednesday, 6 December 2006 23:20 (seventeen years ago) link

I don't get the "Faithmouse" one... What's happening there?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 7 December 2006 09:14 (seventeen years ago) link

I think its the 'MSM' stirring up the radical islamist cats to go after pope dennis hopper I

Ed (dali), Thursday, 7 December 2006 09:20 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, but why are they attacking the "imam" as well? And why is he with the pope?

Tuomas (Tuomas), Thursday, 7 December 2006 09:22 (seventeen years ago) link

I thing the imam is is more shocked than being attacked. I like the fighting cardinal.

Ed (dali), Thursday, 7 December 2006 09:26 (seventeen years ago) link

day by day/chris muir... so awful. really trying to pimp out the "COOL REPUBLICANZ" ideal that nobody buys.

jw (ex machina), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:25 (seventeen years ago) link

I thought kingfish was just posting, like, specific "highlights" from that DBD shit, I did not realize the entire run of the cartoon is basically soft porn with people saying incredibly awkward george will shit

I mean this is like a perfect illustration of the point where it becomes confusing to differentiate between Dada and schizoid

TOM. BOT. (trm), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:48 (seventeen years ago) link

seriously! dude's gotta have the same two facets in every single day's strip! "My audience is here for what I'm good at, so I'll give it to 'em."

Oddly enough, the strip reminds me most of Liberty Meadows, only the talking animals are far more realistic and Frank Cho affords his cheesecake character(s) far more dignity by not having to flash asscrack every other frame.

kingfish in absentia (kingfish), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:53 (seventeen years ago) link

It is the most bonkers strip ever, check the ones from early in the year about punching hillary

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 18:54 (seventeen years ago) link

http://www.daybydaycartoon.com/2006/01/09 and on, and it's punching Bill not Hillary.

would blanket, rather

lololol stupid rightwingers, don't they know that a nuclear explosion blanket the R/F spectrum and kill any news broadcast?

I thought EMP was only useful if the exposion was high in the atmosphere?

Del Monte Young (ex machina), Thursday, 22 February 2007 23:39 (seventeen years ago) link

if you wanted to knock out an entire region perhaps, but it's pretty safe to say that it'd kill anything in the same city.

they be stealin' kingfish's bucket (kingfish), Thursday, 22 February 2007 23:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Beyond a certain altitude a nuclear weapon will not produce any EMP, as the gamma rays will have had sufficient distance to disperse.

the cartoon has a suitcase going up, which would be street level.
