i think xmas 06 was maybe the first time i truly got into ilx (sandbox only days, those were)

maybe the best thing about the holidays?

i ate a lot now it's over and i can go home

Squaxin Island tribal casino buffet outdid itself today with serious meat and dessert options. Good mashed potatoes, sad looking brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes all done up with stuff I don't like (brown sugar/marshmallows/etc). Hung out in the hotel lobby knitting while Mr. Jaq and his mom lost $$. Glad to be home again. Dinner was cheese + crackers.

i had some chicken noodle soup with a guaifenesin chaser.

my parents are making me go to the doctor tomorrow even though i think it is pointless.

he loves it. we are having our thanksgiving in four hours. we usually do it on the friday so we're in synch with the states. he snuck home at lunch so he can have a long weekend. i just made stuffing while f. prepped the turkey and harry lay under the christmas tree, he loves it down there. we called f.'s family and now f. is taking a nap<3

i dunno i like to watch crappy cable shows about prison and i've seen a couple about smuggling stuff and the guards always use the word "secreted" when an inmate secrets something inside his person. i always liked how it had two possible meanings if you read it.

spent ours in chicago with the whanau. food was terrible. gah i have a terrible dislike of t-giving food except for the fake mashed potatoes my sis in law made. but seriously: sweet potatoes with marshmallows and cinnamon?? wtf is that about.

on the upside:
got close to $500 in gift cards at our wedding shower (which was supposed to be a bridal shower but i insisted that jordan be allowed to come so he was the only guy there)
got a SUPER FLASH GREEN IPOD for an early bday present from my lovely inlaws

oh and we arrived home today to find my greencard in the letterbox

they used the same photo on my GC that is on my work permit and i - no joke - look like a serial killer.

maybe i will post pics of it to the WD'NTYLL thread

can't believe they'd give you a green card what with the thanksgiving food hate. wasn't that one of the questions in ur interview???

i heard of some green card interviews where they make sure you finish all the potatoes, all the stuffing, even check under your plate and in your pockets. strict but important imo

even the orange jello w/ shredded carrot salad? That's harsh.

once between lines in the pledge of allegiance i had to take bites of canned cranberrie sauce. it was gross but worth it in the end

ate leftover pizza, read books all day. it was awesome.

i hate cooking, am not particularly good at it, but always thought i had to cook a ~~meal~~ for xmas and thanksgiving. last year we got pizza on thanksgiving and went out for indian for xmas, and it was fucking amazing! so i've sworn to never cook on those days ever again.

i don't even like any of the traditional thanksgiving food, anyway.

those are wonderful ideas. this is bad to say but when my parents die in 30 years or so i will relish in not having to do thanksgiving or xmas. so stress.

I love cooking thanksgiving, but hosting this year was exhausting!

i legitimately hate holidays. i want to quit. it's like you can't even do it though. easier to tell everyone you know and your family that you have some kind of shameful disease than to say you don't want to do thanksgiving or christmas. i just want every day to be the same non-holiday. is that so much to ask?
