I saw The Ex last night, and they were probably better than any band I've seen in the last five years!

I did not make an hour or so jaunt up to Baltimore for last night's show, I wonder how it was? Maybe Jess H., or Zack or Pete did?

Man I want to go the maxwells show but my wife is so pregnant right now. What if she had the baby and I was rocking out to the Ex? Would my unborn child understand someday?

Haha yes.

Hurting, I may go with you if you wanna carpool.

forksclovetofu (forksclovetofu), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 15:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah, let's do it. Although I may just want to take the PATH and walk the 15 or however many blocks it is, because parking around there on a Friday night is terrible.

Hurting (A-Ron Hubbard), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 15:48 (seventeen years ago) link

seriously, i've seen them a few times and they're so consistently excellent that it's almost hard to say "that's one of the best shows i've ever seen in my life," but it was. one of those shows that makes you wonder what the fuck you're doing with your life. /rupture was good (seen him better) but kinda hampered by the crowd, which was a little too "oh, how quaint he's playing yung joc" about it all. which just proves that the 50something punks in the ex are infinitely more open-minded than the 20-30something punks in the audience who grew up with this music.

Anyone wanna meet up for the Knit show?

jw (ex machina), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 16:43 (seventeen years ago) link

i dunno. people seemed to be having fun w/rupture at the show i was at. there was some dancing going on. decent amount of more crust punks at the show, cuz the mpls date was sponsored by the record collective extreme noise and arise! bookstore.

M@tt He1ges0n (Matt Helgeson), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:08 (seventeen years ago) link

there was dancing going on at the baltimore show too but there was also ironic dancing going on

it's not really dance music! as much as i love him rupture barely keeps a beat going for more than two blends

strongo (temp.) (sandboxhulkington), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:22 (seventeen years ago) link

i mean, the ex had more people dancing than rupture did because they didn't fucking cut out in the middle of one song to play a fragment of another song. apparently we got some sort of truncated set from rupture too because they had to have time for the mediocre emo-prog band that opened up. thanks dudes.

You mean Aloha right? They've totally dropped the ball since they lost the dedicate Vibraphone player and started using the keyboard.

jw (ex machina), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:39 (seventeen years ago) link

they were actually pretty good at times. the vibraphone was miked terribly. could barely hear it.

strongo (temp.) (sandboxhulkington), Tuesday, 12 December 2006 17:44 (seventeen years ago) link

I saw them circa 2000,2001,2002 and they were good. By 2003 they suckeddddd

This question is for anyone that attended any of the shows, but mostly for those at the Minneapolis show. Was any Ex merchandise sold? I stayed for about ten minutes afterwards and saw none in sight. I was sad.

Ivan (Ivan), Friday, 15 December 2006 09:55 (seventeen years ago) link

They sold music at the show I was at, I don't think there was anything other than that.

I'm going tonight. I want to be amazed.

I bought an extra ticket accidentally. Anybody wanna do maxwells?

forksclovetofu (forksclovetofu), Friday, 15 December 2006 21:49 (seventeen years ago) link

Aww shit I wanna go. But I don't think I can do it. It's a late show, right?

yeah unfortunately they didn't have any...i talked w.terry after the show and he said they'd shipped the stuff to the u.s. and it had gotten tied up in shipping, so it wasn't at the mpls date...

M@tt He1ges0n (Matt Helgeson), Friday, 15 December 2006 21:57 (seventeen years ago) link

John, I might be able to find someone who wants to go.
