New York Jets defensive tackle Sione Pouha said the touchdown celebration by Buffalo Bills wide receiver Steve Johnson was insensitive to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.

Pouha said Monday that Johnson putting his arms out and acting like a plane -- something Santonio Holmesdoes after scoring -- but then crashing into the turf in the Jets' 28-24 winSunday was "kind of a dagger" because of the attacks that occurred 10 years ago in Manhattan, a few miles from MetLife Stadium.
Pouha said it was an "unprofessional" gesture by Johnson, whom he said didn't take into account that 9/11 is a "sacred moment."

wow that was a pretty terrible call

altho i would be fine with flags thrown at defensive backs who excessively celebrate a hit as the player they have laid out lies motionless or in pain on the ground - i know these are americans we are talking about but have at least a little class

k3vin k., Tuesday, 29 November 2011 03:31 (twelve years ago) link

yah agreed - the timing on that hit was perfect so it seemed much more vicious

nice 2 see jacobs flatten a db tbh

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- The winless Indianapolis Colts are making a change at quarterback, replacing Curtis Painter with veteran Dan Orlovsky.

It will be Orlovsky's first start since the 2008 season when he played for the 0-16 Detroit Lions.

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 01:38 (twelve years ago) link

you guys, something was up with gruden last night. i think calling a game in front of an electric crowd really amps his adrenaline up cuz he was more insane than usual last night. obviously i was hanging on every word.

i basically lost it when they flashed to a shot of a guy in the crowd with half of his face and neck painted black and the other half painted gold and with a massive whistle on his head and gruden goes "ay jaws, i know that guy"

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 01:41 (twelve years ago) link

kinda bummed that AP dips

Just caught the fact that the Jags were sold a couple hours after Del Rio was canned.

tell you what, if I'm the Chicago Bears, I'm puttin in a call to ol' number four

I'm in the mood to party (J0n Arbuckle), Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:06 (twelve years ago) link

Caleb Hanie and TJ Yates are why we should move the trade deadline to week 12 or 13.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:10 (twelve years ago) link

hanie wasn't terrible in the second half. he did some dumb shit in the first half but i think the combo of forte + bears d + schedule + marginal hanie improvements will get the bears just into the playoffs

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:11 (twelve years ago) link

the texans should for real call brett favre tho, they're utterly fucked

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:11 (twelve years ago) link

i mean they'll easily make the playoffs too but they'll get murdered in their first game

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:11 (twelve years ago) link

The Texans are like a pile of burning tires now. I feel kinda bad for them.

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:14 (twelve years ago) link

xps yeah actually I think Hanie will be ok. It was a tough situation going into Oakland in your first game. Raiders D is playing well right now.

Yates on the other hand, you wonder how many snaps he's even taken this year.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:17 (twelve years ago) link

Like signing Favre is a ridiculous idea but when your starter is a 5th rounder who was third string 2 weeks ago, and you just had a competition workout between Delhomme and Jeff Garcia... it's really the time for ridiculous ideas.

DOUG FLUTIE

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:18 (twelve years ago) link

yates was barely good at UNC last year

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:19 (twelve years ago) link

honestly how bad can delhomme be? (don't answer that question)

v-shasty, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:19 (twelve years ago) link

there's a part of me that hopes he's the most terrible we've seen, if only for the ILNFL lols. But that's just mean.

VegemiteGrrrl, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:20 (twelve years ago) link

Texans are so damn good apart from the QB position. as good as any recent team I can recall.

Matt Armstrong, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 04:49 (twelve years ago) link

I'm a bit on the fence on the Texans, they have handled what has been dealt, but they got a pretty sweet ass schedule with Peyty going down.

They did lose to B-more (who has coughed up a couple games), the Raiders and Saints. Their best win is against the Steelers.

Personally, I think they are not as good as the Bears with Cutler and are probably about the same with the backup Qbs.

earlnash, Wednesday, 30 November 2011 05:38 (twelve years ago) link

Texans have a top 5 defense, top 5 o-line, andre johnson and arian foster. They were 7-3 with Matt Schaub. If they had Cutler as QB they go 8-2 at least imo.
