and when did we meet? I'm sure many can attest to my horrible memory for all things.

this was in... August? we were there for my gf's nephew's 1st birthday party. they live a ways up Hiawatha from there but my lady knows the park well from many previous visits. it was quite an entertaining place for our big doofus.

you also recruited your friend to play on my soccer team. which was short-lived (his playing) but he was a good guy.

he still plays but he just got married so I think it might have slowed him down a bit

he also likes drinking beer and shouting at professional soccer players up in Blaine or whatever place Bachmann comes from

He was really nice - he fit the spirit of our little misfit team quite well. Although, since I got knocked up another teammate took over the "management" of it & now it feels way more serious. Serious in the sense that we actually win games now. We never did that under my stellar leadership.

MY BUS JUST CRASHED

Oh the humanity

It felt like everything in my life has been leading up to this moment. 

All those people. All those lives. Just trying to make their way home and now...delayed.

What did it crash into?

A car (late model Audi SUV) crashed into the bus. Bus was pulling out of a stop and the Audi tried to overtake it, and it collided at a narrow angle. It's the kind of wreck that you would think would happen more often.

Not at all exciting, but kind of annoying having to wait in the blustery air and then cram into a muggy bus. Life never gets any easier.

I felt terrible for the poor sweet driver. She was so nice, and then when she crashed she said DAMN IT DAMN IT DAMN IT! And immediately apologized to the passengers for cursing. <3

that IS the kind of accident i expect to see more often. cars really do not like to yield to buses!

I actually was not aware until earlier today (at work) that "X's namesake" could mean "someone that also has X's name" -- I thought it only meant "someone X was named after."

i think to be precise you're supposed to use "eponym" for the person or thing after whom/which the "namesake" is named

CTA was fucked up today but it was almost rehabilitated by the hilariously talkative train driver i had for most of my commute home.

My bookmarks works for this thread and a couple others, but definitely not all.

I have no bookmark problems either, although when browsing on my phone, I have to "click to confirm" that I want to add a bookmark, at which point I am whisked back to SNA, whereas here, I just bookmark the thread and stay on the same page.

My memory was jogged by "grapefruit", for some reason, to remind me that I wanted to post about JUICE FASTERS in this thread. I'm certain we've talked about it before, maybe even on the sandbox? WTF, juice fasters? I have a friend who is evangelizing via fb for this and it's hard to read sometimes.
