The pseudoephedrine fucking me over is normally a sign that my cold is nearly gone. I did myself a number by ODing on pseudoephedrine and ibuprofen on the plane last time I came to NYC, I was ill-advisingly using it's speedy qualities to keep me awake, I couldn't eat for two days after that.

I guess that's one way of going about doing it. I find it impossible to sleep to begin with on airplanes and couldn't imagine wanting to try to stay awake though! It makes sense but god airplanes are terrible.
