harbl encouragement thread

so what happens if you don't get this position? Do you stay with what you are currently doing at the same place where this other job is?

Also, that yr pink eye clears up fast.

pink eye is mostly gone, symptoms started sunday. the job i'm doing at the same place (same exact job, basically) was a volunteer position i got a grant for when they weren't hiring. i would have to find something else to do at least part time because i stopped getting paychecks from the grant last month.

oh man, that truly sucks. They need to man-up and get you hired on.

I will send the boss guy a durian if you think it will help.

i think i did everything i could to help myself and now it's out of his hands, i'm just waiting on the hiring committee to care about my feelings

oh guess what he did recommend me and really wants me to work there but the other 2 ladies who interviewed me and don't know me wanted someone else so i didn't get the job and it's gonna be forever until they have another opening

he brought me into his office and told me because i hadn't gotten the letter yet and kept telling me how i do a good job and stuff (i think it was sincere) and i wanted to disappear. i am so mad and i don't know what to do now.

Can you (or the boss guy) ask the 2 ladies what needed to be different for them to have considered you more strongly? It could be a bunch of guff, but also could maybe be useful info for the future.

i'm guessing the other person had prior trial experience, which like no one has when they start w/ this office. i honestly don't want to know. i feel like i'm not a good interviewer. he said he was trying to see if they might make another opening and he called a few people for me to see about other jobs. i am appreciative but it's not the same :(

i finally got the interview with the county office i was supposed to interview with a long time ago, and then i called my boss and he was very willing to fax them a recommendation letter today. i have mixed feelings because i don't want to commute that far but maybe i won't get it anyway!

good luck with this! and maybe (banal sentiments here) the long distance will turn out to be a blessing in disguise, esp. if you're comfortable where you're living but want a bit of exposure to new ppl and new communities.

Congratulations! How far is your commute? I always think I will knit on the bus, but I never do.

took me about 50 min to get there for the interview post rush-hour but google maps said 35. i need to figure out a faster route. lack of public transit options is frustrating, annapolis has NO trains and the bus/light-rail combo would take me 2 hours. it's a year contract funded by a grant, but same agency as i've been working for. hoping the state budget will improve and i can become a real state employee and transfer back here after that? probably not though. at least now i can afford to buy yarn lol. and i will probably go on a book shopping spree. and buy clothes. it's not really official yet so maybe i should hold off on that for a couple weeks.

and, uh, i already bought a jug of rum. *someone* is coming over for dinner and i'm gonna be drunk woohoooooo

once my goody two shoes boyfriend said he was going to get really drunk tonight and then a few hours later i saw him sitting politely on a chair with his legs crossed holding a small glass of wine so i shouted, 'look at him, he's gone troppo' and then my sister and i laughed like drains and then not that long after that i broke up with him and he said it was because i was afraid to love which made me feel slightly sad for myself instead of for him which i can now see might have been annoying for him in the middle of getting broken up with.

someone special, i think. i didn't get too drunk but i acted disgracefully and had a fun time.

since your luck appears to be mainly good luck that must mean you kissed a wrong'un.

when i started my job they told me i would not be paid for 45 days and i was worried and borrowed rent money from my mom. now it turns out i'll be paid next week! i am really having a streak that makes me feel afraid of what bad luck is coming.

also what kind of intoxicating liquors am i going to buy next week with this upcoming load of cash

absinthe is a v.v. pretty green and hallucinates + intoxicates

i got paid today but i went to the mega liquor store last week and just used my credit card. it turned out to be a big mistake to do it on a thursday night but nothing very bad happened ; )

there is still some bourbon leftover because i have been too afraid to touch it

thanks estela. some things about my life are going ok, but others are not. for example, i can't seem to clean my house, and i am always ready to fall asleep at 8:30 pm, i'm anxious, and i need to be getting more exercise. i'll take your encouragement, maybe it'll help.

i had my first trial today and i won it, even though the prosecutor did a very good job and i just sort of bumbled along. i hope i get better at that eventually.
