Coq au vin take time, don't forget to leave burn marks in your cooker hood:

chicken only ever takes fifteen minutes, otherwise it turns into a duck

TOMB07 (trm), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:13 (seventeen years ago) link

I cannot wait for the fire portion of the cooking.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Coq au vin takes a little over a couple of hours, it is supposed to be, it is meant to start as a tough old cock in need of a slow cooking.

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:19 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, please do not listen to Tom at all, it is supposed to take a while. I guess perhaps maybe it is not the greatest idea to make it tonight but I don't care. Though I have read it is even best to make coq au vin in advance and then let it stay overnight in the fridge to develop flavors better so maybe I will do quick dinner while that is cooking and eat the coq au vin tomorrow.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:21 (seventeen years ago) link

Yes, yes, yes.

This is the way (true of most stews as well).

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:24 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, I know, which is why it is hilarious that Tom often refuses to eat leftovers (the only leftovers I ever keep are soups or stews or chillis). I just have such a difficult time waiting the 24 hours before DEVOURING and am often too pressed for time to make two dinners. BUT TONIGHT, I will do this.

oi does anyone know the French stew that is rabbit in a cream-mustardy sauce? I would like to make that as well but haven't an idea what that is called at all.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:27 (seventeen years ago) link

Tom often refuses to eat leftovers

Leftovers are the best! I made Moo Shoo Burritos last night with left over Moo Shoo. Fried up some cubed potatoes, heated up a burrito shell, some rooster sauce=yum.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:28 (seventeen years ago) link

ou need:
1 rabbit fire-rake, 1 English mustard pot, 125 G of butter, 2 small cognac glass, salt, pepper, rosemary

(from a translated page, wtf)

ZR (teenagequiet), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:52 (seventeen years ago) link

FACT! Club Monaco is owned by Polo Ralph Lauren.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Not sure what that is but it sounds good.

You could try this belgian recipe (which as eat once hot one)

Brown some endives and garlic in some butter and remove from pan. Broen some chicken pieces in the same butter till golden. Put everything in a pot and cook in some Belgian beer for 45 minutes. Remove the chicken and endives etc, and reduce the beer down. Mix in some cream to make a sauce, pour over the chicken and endives, serve. (possibly with chips).

Ed (dali), Wednesday, 3 January 2007 21:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Q, I am kind of interested in seeing Virginia W., but maybe I should just rewatch the movie instead. I am down for a movie along with Sephora-ing.

I finally get Trader Joe's. I got a ton of pre-made food that requires very little effort to turn into dinner. Tonight I "made" turkey meatloaf with roasted corn.

Oh, I can't do dinner tomorrow cause I have work, but if you're out past nine give me a call.

Matilda Wormwood (Mary ), Thursday, 4 January 2007 03:04 (seventeen years ago) link

yes i cant make dinner either but also i am interested in being out past niner

The fave Christmas dessert is an "atrocious concoction" of Coca-Cola-flavored jelly served with black glacé cherries; Bubba ignored his allergies and ate chocolate cake, barking, "I'm the president around here.."

the Clintons are so awesome. your 08 presidential candidate speculation: "would you have a beer with them at the flying dawkins"

bill clinton otm

LOL @ "I'm the president around here"

Allyzay P. Boxcars (trm), Sunday, 11 February 2007 20:49 (seventeen years ago) link

bill clinton rules. he moves into the white house and asks this super talented french chef to make a dessert with coca-cola flavored jelly. that is so great.

Ask the White House: "The Secret Service, by the way, has not restricted flaming desserts. But I do restrict it, because on one Christmas a lady caught on fire." "Over the 25 years I've been here, I've noticed that Democrats usually eat more than Republicans."
