cheesesteak = involves onions, which I then have to pick out
jerk = too spicy for lil ol me
sloppy joe = reminds me of yard-raking day when mom would be feeding a crowd

BBQ beef is the only possible competition I can see....

you are forgetting sausages.

ian -- you really should plan your entire life around a trip to Hot Doug's in Chicago.

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:36 (seventeen years ago) link

i think there are always gray areas, though. i think the average pulled pork sandwich is probably better than the average cheesesteak when you take into account all the cheesesteak sold at subway, quiznos etc every day. HOWEVER, the best cheesesteak at the right moment could be better than anything else. xpost

in-laws want it served at wedding. I'm just checking.

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:37 (seventeen years ago) link

OKAY AND SAUSAGES RIGHT.. SO TODAY I WASAT THE SUPERMARKET.. and they DID NOT HAVE any HOT OR SWEET ITALIAN SAUSAGES! it was outrageous. i am gonna have to buy some at the supermarket across from work tomorrow, I guess.

dmr, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:40 (seventeen years ago) link

this is just not true

strongo, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:50 (seventeen years ago) link

loose meat sandwiches are just griddled ground beef, perhaps with some spices. they're native to idaho or iowa or somesuch. i don't know much about them, but i like the name.

Lauren (lauren), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:52 (seventeen years ago) link

in baltimore there is a variation called the "pit beef sandwich"

strongo, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:54 (seventeen years ago) link

good for street fair consumption

strongo, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:54 (seventeen years ago) link

"Loose meat" sounds like someone (Ian) walking around with random bits of meat in their pockets, left over from meat-based barter transactions from over the past couple days.
