So based on the events of the last couple of weeks, or the lack thereof, I believe the most effective way for a federal agency to safeguard its information technology assets is to keep the civil servants the hell away from them.

TOMB07 (trm), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 18:12 (seventeen years ago) link

Also dudes I totally picked this up with my Borders gift card, word!:

Yeah that book is fresh for sure, even if it gets a little too much into 1950's local vs. federal politics at times.

The coming way to go!

ZR (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

how was everyone's new year's, actually?

ZR (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:02 (seventeen years ago) link

laid back. ate lots of tapas, drank some wine, drank some champagne, smoked some cigarettes, steered well clear of wasted douchebags, tried not to step in their puke, blew up the death star over lego endor, still feeling genuinely optimistic and kind of excited about 07, which is unusual!

TOMB07 (trm), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

dude dar1a, which are you listening to? shallow? that is most def #1 album of 2k5 for me. i have a couple 7"s too - i can make you a tape!

69 (pete), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:11 (seventeen years ago) link

i really really really like the exploding hearts, BTW, PS.

Nu Years: We watched The Player, which is the best Bruce Willis movie ever. As far as the rest of it goes, the movie/Hollywood stuff was funny but it didn't carry the movie. I made hazelnut chocolate cake with whipped cream, and it ruled, totally.

i too feel awesome about 2007.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:15 (seventeen years ago) link

excellent! ill make you a copy of the record - i think ZR has the new comp of their singles and odds and ends that just came out, too...

69 (pete), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:22 (seventeen years ago) link

Hudson Hawk is totally the best Bruce Willis movie.

I have great expectations for 2007, but honestly it's underperformed so far.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:23 (seventeen years ago) link

Movies to See 2007:

*Hudson Hawk
*Those four connected Westerns PS mentioned the other day (Good, Bad, Ugly, etc.)
*Happy Feet 2: Return of the Happy Feet
*That other weird Russian film PS mentioned that's like 3 hours long
*Mcabe and Mrs. Miller.
*MASH
*Die Hard 4

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago) link

*Transformers

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 19:31 (seventeen years ago) link

Dammit, 69. Leave a post-it note on her monitor.

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:00 (seventeen years ago) link

No no no send her an Outlook invitation for an appointment for a post-work date, that way she can click YES I WANT TO GO ON DATE WITH BRO or NO I SUCK AND I DON'T WANT TO GO ON DATE WITH BRO.

P.S. Don't do this, I am just kidding.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:05 (seventeen years ago) link

ZR (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago) link

God I kept reading that as "Outback invitation"

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:08 (seventeen years ago) link

is no one going to question the wisdom of dating coworker???

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, right. BAD IDEA, 69!

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:33 (seventeen years ago) link

look q you can lead a bro to water, but you can't make him not date his coworker

ZR (teenagequiet), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:33 (seventeen years ago) link

I figured I"d leave that to Tom to jump in and do his normal huge hypocritical rant against coworker dating, it is titled "Don't Shit Where You Eat" and I've heard/read it about 74 times.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:34 (seventeen years ago) link

It's really not that horrible an idea presuming everyone involved is an adult and not a 1) stalker 2) immature mid-life crisis havin' person 3) drama queen.

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:36 (seventeen years ago) link

plus 4) makin out in the break room while feeding each other Zingers and Ding Dongs=AWESOMES

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:38 (seventeen years ago) link

ESPECIALLY #3 IS IMPORTANT, THO

Brian Miller (Brian Miller), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:38 (seventeen years ago) link

uhhh

xpost #1 is pretty important too but they're kind of related sometimes

Allyzay heard you got beat up in a club. (Allyzay Eisenschefter), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:39 (seventeen years ago) link

Yeah how the person deals with breakups is totally crucial. Also, you're gonna need to keep lots of change on hand for the Ding Dongs.

Mr. Que (Party with me Punker), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:40 (seventeen years ago) link

the problem is, #3 can be hard to predict UNTIL IT IS TOO LATE!

quincie (quincie), Tuesday, 2 January 2007 20:40 (seventeen years ago) link

SOMETIMES

I dunno, I've known a lot of people who have dated at workplaces and it has been fine, but there was one horrible workplace serial dater I knew who was always trying to pick up ladies and then becoming stalkerish and a huge drama queen whenever the relationship would go sour so that kind of person is definitely out there.
