yesterday i walked in the rain with my sister, also an educated, cultured, refined southern gentlewoman. we carried, and referred numerous times to, our (properly pronounced) UMbrellas.

revisited the sculpture park yesterday and actually felt like i appreciated (most of) it for the first time. i think the difference was lighting. sun = colors and shadows that kind of bring the pieces into their own a little more.

also, if you have not visited the vivarium (the little greenhouse thing) you definitely should because it is amazing and contains a nurse log from tacoma (i think?) and is quite a cool little system to look at!

the way the shadows were working here reminded me of making prints of leaves with solar paper as a kid.

If you haven't seen the quad at UW when the cherry trees are blooming, I would recommend that. Also, the acres and acres of tulips up by LaConner (but I don't know for sure when they bloom).
