My uncle was teasing my Australian wife, asking her what crimes her penal ancestors committed. I tried to shut him up by telling her, "It's okay. Our ancestors apprehended runaway slaves."

Didn't shut him up.

I'm faintly related to Jean Lafitte, who's a kind of folk hero in Louisiana, despite having made his fortune dealing in contraband slaves.

WTF, is it "my family is more racist than your family" day on ILX???

Yes.

lolz.

my family is proud of the fact that our aussie bloodline began with an ancestor stealing a loaf of bread to feed her starving family.

(I don't even know what my ancestors did or didn't do. I'm pretty sure the Russian Jew had clean hands, slavewise, but I'm not sure about those fur traders.)

My family merely enjoyed a moment of quiet, shared liberal indignation over the Richards outburst before moving on to other topics.

See, all the folks in my family who sound like y'all's relations are dead.

Jesse Jax, a few other lib-fascists call for media to "ban" the N-word (Rev Red Light sez it's "unprotected" by the First Amendment):

Sounds like time for ILX lib-racist fave Quentin Tarantino to switch to Eric Rohmer-style dialogue.

Unfortunately the lawsuit and the grandstanding reverends are going to end up overshadowing the wrong done by Richards. I wish they would just issue a brief statement and move on - they'd actually get much more public sympathy that way.

yeah but they wouldn't get any money.

this kramer bullshit didn't come up once at my thanksgiving, so proud.

my mother would probably say things like:
"Seinfeld? never eard of it."
"American rubbish then"
"Nothing will ever beat Only Fools an 'orses!"

Roger Lloyd Pack unleashing a torrent of racial abuse at an innocent heckler = money.

Well, MOST of our Thanksgiving was spent discussing a perennial favorite topic: "OMG, antisemitism is everywhere!"

Hurting (A-Ron Hubbard), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 14:52 (seventeen years ago) link

my thanksgiving was spent discussing all the bargains my m-i-l finds at the px. zzz

This deliberate confusing of Kramer and Richards has lead to "the real Kramer" getting hatemail.

During the disco era, Kenny Kramer came up with a piece of electronic jewelry that apparently did so well, it put him in the black for some time.
