here are the 'best bars in seattle' according to molecular mixologist jamie boudreau, whose drinks i would like to drink but he makes them at 'tini bigs' and that name just makes me feel like not going.

I didn't hear any of that last night, but this morning around 7 there was a HUGE thundercrash! I thought at first it was a train wreck!

i heard that too! thought it was gonna start all over but there was just the one.

it was the loudest thunder i ever heard, i think, and maybe also the longest.

more great cracking thunder this evening!

yesterday i walked in the rain with my sister, also an educated, cultured, refined southern gentlewoman. we carried, and referred numerous times to, our (properly pronounced) UMbrellas.

i refrained from telling her about this debacle so your reputations are preserved.

revisited the sculpture park yesterday and actually felt like i appreciated (most of) it for the first time. i think the difference was lighting. sun = colors and shadows that kind of bring the pieces into their own a little more.

also, if you have not visited the vivarium (the little greenhouse thing) you definitely should because it is amazing and contains a nurse log from tacoma (i think?) and is quite a cool little system to look at!

the way the shadows were working here reminded me of making prints of leaves with solar paper as a kid.
