spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 29 July 2009 23:07 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe you should treat yourself to a little trip to the pnw, harbl, and i will make as many drinks for you as you like. i make a damn fine drink, by the way. ask anybody.

lxy, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 23:46 (fourteen years ago) link

someday. i need hundreds of dollars first. what rum should i get if they don't have your beloved flor de cana

spite n ease (harbl), Wednesday, 29 July 2009 23:47 (fourteen years ago) link

pampero aniversario (comes in a cheesy leather pouch)
cockspur 12 (or regular -- is it 5 year or just plain? can't remember)
mount gay (eclipse, not the others)

if you get to the store and they don't have those, you can call me and i'll talk you through it. (if you want to do that let me know and i'll webmail you my #)

lxy, Wednesday, 29 July 2009 23:56 (fourteen years ago) link

ok do that but i think i'll be ok!!!!

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 00:01 (fourteen years ago) link

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 00:10 (fourteen years ago) link

i'm gonna laugh if you two talk on the phone

jergins, Thursday, 30 July 2009 00:42 (fourteen years ago) link

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 00:58 (fourteen years ago) link

ok. my internet broke after my last post so i didn't get the chance. then i had to get ethiopian takeout. then my parents called. but i did get an economy size bottle of MOUNT GAY and a couple limes

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:01 (fourteen years ago) link

i think they possibly might have had other things lxy recommended but i didn't notice the number of bottles behind the bulletproof glass until after i made my choice

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:03 (fourteen years ago) link

i think this thread now should shift from encouraging harbl mode to egging harbl on mode.

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:05 (fourteen years ago) link

YAY HARBL another round of good work by you today!

please take my advice and measure a shot. use 1/4 of a lime. 4 or 5 ice cubes in an old fashioned (12 oz.) glass. less ice for a smaller glass.

xp

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:06 (fourteen years ago) link

or perhaps teaching harbl how to make drinks mode

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:07 (fourteen years ago) link

oh yes also, i would have laughed too. as estela and jergins well know.

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:07 (fourteen years ago) link

i was just laughing out loud about the first time we talked.

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

i know me too!

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:11 (fourteen years ago) link

lxy i have already made my drink while waiting for this page to load. i used about 1/6 of a lime because i have a strange way of cutting limes. i measured approximately a shot with mine eyes. i used 5 cubes. i am drinking out of the same mason jar as always (belongs to real tenant). probably more seltzer than necessary but i really like seltzer. tasty drink.

i probably typed this about 15 min before it gets posted! i can't wait to have my own internet

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:29 (fourteen years ago) link

fucking love mason jars
again, congratulations, seriously.
the checker at the grocery store today asked me what club soda tastes like

jergins, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:31 (fourteen years ago) link

i never call it "club soda"
i thought it was the same thing as seltzer?

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:32 (fourteen years ago) link

i love mason jars too, and congratulating harbl:)

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:36 (fourteen years ago) link

also thank you jergins, for congratulating me. even though congratulations scare me because i am mildly superstitious and i my exam will be jinxed!
and i'm afraid if i recycle my bar review books and flashcards i'll need them again in feb!

xp thanx estela too

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 01:40 (fourteen years ago) link

is anyone here

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:07 (fourteen years ago) link

hirbl

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:08 (fourteen years ago) link

glad you are liking the drink

we may have found the common denominator for the sandbox: mason jars

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:09 (fourteen years ago) link

i have lobbied for butts, then baseball. mason jars probly make the most sense though

jergins, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:11 (fourteen years ago) link

they're perfect!

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:13 (fourteen years ago) link

harbl, does passing the bar in your state mean you can practice in other states as well?

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:25 (fourteen years ago) link

was wondering this

jergins, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:30 (fourteen years ago) link

it's complicated. passing, in itself, doesn't even mean i can practice in maryland because i have to also pass the character and fitness stuff (i will) and then get sworn in to be admitted. so the exam is not enough, it's just the hardest part. then each state has its own way of deciding who gets to practice. some states will accept any other state's bar exam and then do their own little character and fitness thing, then others will let you in if you've been practicing for a few years in another state (might have to take a small state-specific exam for some of them), and others won't let you in at all until you pass their particular exam. you can transfer your multistate exam score to other states though. washington, dc lets you in if your multistate score is high enough but it costs like $600 or something. if i ever work in dc it will probably be for the federal government so i don't have to be admitted there, you can take any bar you want to work for them.

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:35 (fourteen years ago) link

also another fun fact is that all states except maryland and washington require the multistate professional responsibility exam but fortunately i chose one of the two states that is not ethical. but that topic was on our normal bar exam, so they do care a little. if i moved states i might need to take that too.

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:39 (fourteen years ago) link

unless you move here, right?

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:45 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe the whole sandbox should move to washington.

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:47 (fourteen years ago) link

this thread has reminded me to track down proper mason jars in australia, which i just have, but the question is before i order some, are regular or wide mouth mason jars best for drinking out of, because i forget what f.'s mom uses but i always drink out of them when i am at her house. supposedly wide mouth jars say wide mouth on the side of them but i wasn't observant enough (because i never am) to notice whether hers did or not. help me sandbox and you will be helping f. for he loves them also, we had an effusive discussion of praise about them sitting at his mom's table.

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:49 (fourteen years ago) link

yes, wide mouth for sure, i got rid of all the other kind in my house

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:51 (fourteen years ago) link

i can't believe lxy has never gone off on the sandbox about my love for mason jars

jergins, Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:52 (fourteen years ago) link

yeah they're so great. i don't really believe in having nice glasses or china or anything, it's all about utility and mason jars provide just what you need, while also being very attractive

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 02:54 (fourteen years ago) link

i hate nearly all nice glasses and china, i hate fussy and prissy objects, mason jars are sturdy and satisfying and beautiful.

estela, Thursday, 30 July 2009 03:04 (fourteen years ago) link

i have a beautiful set of china that i got from my grandparents, german, 1960. simple, sleek, wonderful. otherwise, china sucks.

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 03:14 (fourteen years ago) link

xp jergins i can't believe YOU'VE never gone off about!

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 03:16 (fourteen years ago) link

i haven't been up this late in weeks!

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 03:31 (fourteen years ago) link

welcome to your new life!

lxy, Thursday, 30 July 2009 03:33 (fourteen years ago) link

jergins can i be an IRE mod? i think i've earned it

spite n ease (harbl), Thursday, 30 July 2009 03:55 (fourteen years ago) link

got to meet you first. you know that's how it works

jergins, Thursday, 30 July 2009 04:10 (fourteen years ago) link
