te,he (tehresa), Monday, 13 July 2009 22:48 (fourteen years ago) link

ok stu4rt called me today and it's on. i got a little scared because the co-application thing took so long in the mail but we're good. AND since i'm not moving in until 2 weeks after the other girl (also a lawyer) moves out, i get new carpet! i'd rather have no carpet at all but you can't have everything. can't wait to be in my new place with no furniture! might have my brother come down and help me move bc he is bored and unemployed so maybe we can get some furniture with the car. like a table and stuff.

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:32 (fourteen years ago) link

i also joined freecycle baltimore yahoo group

spite n ease (harbl), Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:37 (fourteen years ago) link

oh you lucky girl! they mentioned maybe putting new carpet in mine, but they just cleaned it instead.
are you gonna build a fort?

te,he (tehresa), Sunday, 19 July 2009 21:50 (fourteen years ago) link

maybe....how do you build a fort without furniture? i will spend some time in the loft probably. but i should get a tv for that.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:02 (fourteen years ago) link

with the moving boxes, duh!

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:08 (fourteen years ago) link

haha, yes. i am also considering knitting a new blanket for a housewarming gift for myself. since i ruined my comforter by washing it according to the instructions. maybe like this but not a baby blanket obv http://brooklyntweed.blogspot.com/2009/07/tweed-baby-blanket-pattern-now.html

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:15 (fourteen years ago) link

is there a baltimore tweed?
like the brash, tweedy impertinence of detective freamon?

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:24 (fourteen years ago) link

i am so jealous of ppl who can knit!!!!

smoove operator, Monday, 20 July 2009 00:39 (fourteen years ago) link

trust me, if i can do it anyone can. i am getting better at it but i never finish anything. but perhaps if i had a real purpose such as a bed covering i could finish it.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:53 (fourteen years ago) link

smoove it seems like it would be right up your alley. i mean if you're interested in making books you'd probably be interested in making knitted goods, i think that's how it goes.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:54 (fourteen years ago) link

for some reason i think the knit stuff looks cool but i've never been inspired to take it up.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 00:57 (fourteen years ago) link

my friend made these two for wedding presents, they're nice but i don't like round blankets and they are too lacy and old-fashioned—looking for my taste (bc i am always up to date)

when my mum tried to teach i just couldn't get it. i'm not very coordinated.

smoove operator, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:03 (fourteen years ago) link

round blankets are useless

jergins, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:06 (fourteen years ago) link

oh neither am i--i first learned like 6 years ago and was so bad at it, i kept forgetting how and starting stuff over because i didn't know how to fix mistakes but in the past year or so i'm getting better. starting is a big hurdle but after you get knit and purl down you can do anything: cabling, lace, etc. anything! the possibilities are *endless* xp

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:07 (fourteen years ago) link

hey it's jergins being otm

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:07 (fourteen years ago) link

when is he not?

only about house plants, i think.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

i have a huge, huge, huge afghan my great-grandmother crocheted. theresa might have seen it when she was here but i didn't point it out. it's bright neon orange, puke green, and yellow. she used to just crank them out but was really tacky (greek) so she made interesting color choices. it's also acrylic so it will never be destroyed.

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:09 (fourteen years ago) link

the yellow is not really yellow, it's more "mustard"

spite n ease (harbl), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:10 (fourteen years ago) link

i love that combo! it makes me nostalgic for my parents' poor decorating choices when i was a kid.

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:23 (fourteen years ago) link

my friend's mom made me a gorgeous afghan a couple of years ago and there was wool leftover so she made a surprise little afghan for my dog<3<3.

estela, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:29 (fourteen years ago) link

do you wear them around the house together, pinned around your necks, tsking things?

jergins, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:31 (fourteen years ago) link

lol sort of.

estela, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:36 (fourteen years ago) link

i don't have anyone to teach me how to knit :(

smoove operator, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:39 (fourteen years ago) link

my father taught me how to knit when i was 5 and during the lesson i made sexist remarks and questioned his manhood.

estela, Monday, 20 July 2009 01:47 (fourteen years ago) link

tsk

te,he (tehresa), Monday, 20 July 2009 01:49 (fourteen years ago) link

jergins, Tuesday, 21 July 2009 03:14 (fourteen years ago) link

gis safe search off isn't helping

jergins, Tuesday, 21 July 2009 03:14 (fourteen years ago) link

an afghan is just a knitted or crocheted blanket basically. they are often hideous (except estela's gorgeous one). i think you would recognize one if you saw it

spite n ease (harbl), Tuesday, 21 July 2009 03:16 (fourteen years ago) link
